Just picked up my RS4 this weekend
I am over the moon with it, the wait has been well worth it.
I have witnessed a couple of things that I needed to ask bout before I flagged them up to the dealer.
I’m in RS2 mode then gone to manual, on the gear stick to use the paddles.
Does it not change gear automatically if going into redline? Like it does in drive and sport?
In second hitting redline it didn’t change up itself auto until I did physically on the paddle.
Is this a setting within RS2 mode?
Also have been witnessing a slight lumbering/stuttering at half throttle in third. This goes away if going full throttle or backing off but is noticeable.
Is this normal? 170 miles covered
Regards
Mike

170 miles and you’re red lining it??
I took it easy for a few hundred miles before thrashing it.
Never noticed any issues in third and never had it on the paddles in RS mode so can’t help with that.
Enjoy your car!

Full throttle. Red line. 170 miles.
Please tell me it’s not a brand new car…

The car will not change gear in manual mode it will only Chang gear in Auto or Sport
And the gear box will not be in manual mode until you push the gear stick across to engage it
In your RS2 mode does the gears indicated on the binical it's in Sport, or manual
As long as the cars up to temp
And allowed to cool down before switching off the engine
It will be fine

Re: RS4 2021 Just picked up
I feel you have got the wrong end of the stick.
I have not been driving full throttle redlining everywhere. Anyway I did my own research and did not realise the RS cars in manual don’t upshift auto like the S4 I had previously (in certain drive modes). It had been the lack of knowledge of this that had allowed the car to redline in manual mode. Only once, as it was my lack of understanding of the modes on this car. Now I know this I will not be using the car in these modes until I have covered a lot more miles. I’ve spoken to my dealer and he cleared that up, I just wish I was aware of it first as I did not want to inadvertently think the car would upshift like my S4 did.
Now I get why it has green amber red lights on the Rev counter in these modes.
With this Info I’ll be using comfort for now anyway, as no real need for the RS modes and I like the way it drives in comfort auto.

I don't think you needed to avoid using the RS modes; you just have to not put the gearbox into manual. If the gearbox is in normal or sport mode it will shift itself. If it's in manual (either you've pushed the lever to the side, or you've pulled a paddle) then it...won't. If you don't push the lever to the side, you can still use the paddles and it will temporarily stay in manual, then after a few seconds of no paddle being pressed it will go back to auto.
Take it easy for a few more hundred miles and you'll soon get used to it.
