Re: Im Back
What is it with me and RS4s, picked up this car and i have really been enjoying it until Christmas Day, now a fault has come up on this car.
It says stop/start fault, engine management light is on, Fan is constantly running at full speed, temp gauge is 1 notch above 90 but engine bay isn't that hot, so got home and parked it up
started it up today and ran lumpy so i switched it off

Re: Im Back
Sounds like a faulty thermostat - there have been a few on here (including mine). Enjoy (when it’s sorted)

Re: Im Back
That’s what I’ve read about, is it a easy fix to replace it also read about water pump being done at the same time but didn’t know if that’s on other models
Re: Im Back
I think it is a bit of a pig actually - or so I was told when they did mine.wellzieRS4 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:40 pmThat’s what I’ve read about, is it a easy fix to replace it also read about water pump being done at the same time but didn’t know if that’s on other models

Re: Im Back
Car is now fixed, it was the thermostat, really loving the car so far despite the faults with this one and the last one
Coming from F80 M3, i love they way i can use the power regardless of conditions, the M3 was more agile and a bit more fun but was useless really unless it was completely dry
Fingers crossed i don't have anymore issues for a while

Re: Im Back
Agree with the above, I also had the M3 and loving that you can just put your foot down, whether wet or dry. Being an estate just gives you a bit more flexibility.wellzieRS4 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 12:28 pmCar is now fixed, it was the thermostat, really loving the car so far despite the faults with this one and the last one

Re: Im Back
Be interesting when the new M3 Touring x drive is available, will that take away the RS4s selling point....

Re: Im Back
I think the price difference will need to be significant.
Other than cost, it would be interesting to hear why someone would buy an RS4 over an AWD G80 Touring?
Also bear in mind the upcoming AMG C63 with AWD and a 650hp F1 style Hybrid power plant will be available as an estate (supposedly this year 2022).

Re: Im Back
I'd pick the RS over the M3 every day of the week on looks alone. I'd be embarrassed to own something that fugly.
The C63 will be interesting and the powertrain could be epic, but I've been finding the Merc styling to be quite garish and chintzy for quite a while now both inside and out so chances are I'd still pick my RS over the new C63 as well.

Re: Im Back
At this end of the performance spectrum it isn't all about outright power is it? There is a hard to absolutely define 'character' element, some cars just make you smile when you push the button each day - such cars are not just quick A to B but have a certain 'something' that makes them a rewarding drive.

Re: Im Back
I always said I would get an M3 when there was a touring version.... but I didn’t really gel with the M5, I don’t like BMW styling these days, funnily enough the back not the front, and to be honest it’s looking like £80k plus with a few options. Given the crap bmw residuals there would need to be a bigger upfront discount than currently available..
