As long as you format it to FAT32 almost any size. I had a 1TB in my last car. Currently using a 128GB and again works fine.

Be mindful that on a FAT32 format the max individual file size is 4GB, you'd likely only encounter this is you are doing video playback. If exFAT or NTFS formats are supported then the file size limit isn't there.

How about using a USB hard drive on the 2020 RS4 for music, would it work? The latest RS4 has no SD card support, only USB. I tried Tidal Hi-Fi streaming, but the sound quality is really lacking.

You can make a USB hard drive a media Source - use a solid state drive as it will require less power and cope with being bounced around in the RS. There are limits imposed to the number of files and folders as you can see at the table below.

That’s a good chart. Thanks. It says max 256 GB for memory cards. What do you reckon the max capacity would be for a solid state USB hard drive.

Max capacity is hard to say - memory cards are specifically named with a max size limit. I'd be tempted to try a 1TB drive and see how you get on. How much digital data have you got?
