Oil viscosity
Anyone know what oil viscosity is recommended for the 2020 RS4 in the UK? Opie oils are saying 0w20 but the car came with a litre of 0w30 shell helix ultra professional AV-L from the dealer.
If you guys got a litre in the boot, what were you provided?

Re: Oil viscosity
0-30 is the correct oil
Re: Oil viscosity
0w30 is the same oil my Audi dealer sold me.
I like to do interim oil / filter changes myself and didn't want to void my warranty. Funny though i couldn't find any mention of what oil to use anywhere in the handbook.
I even supply the same oil to my Audi dealer for the service oil changes they do, especially as for some reason when I buy it I get it for about 50% less than they charge! When I bought my first lot from Audi there spares guy even appologised about the price.

Re: Oil viscosity
Audi sold me, Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil in 1ltr bottles hence the high cost.
I buy mine from Opie oils Redruth, Cornwall in 5 ltr bottles. They are a reputable oil seller through eBay as well as direct. My dealer protested at first about me supplying my own oil to them for oil changes with as they couldn't trace its providence. When I pointed out it was the same oil I had bought from there spares department and my oil was sealed and I had the sales reciept from Opie they backed down. They also couldn't explain why there oil was so much more expensive.
Best of luck.

Re: Oil viscosity
Thanks Jools, my dealer supplied me with the same oil but only as a 1l top up when I bought the car. I have used Opie before so will get a few 5l bottles from them. Thanks for the help.Jools wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 11:30 pmAudi sold me, Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil in 1ltr bottles hence the high cost.

If you don't mind me asking, did you speak to someone here and they recommended 0w-20?Dannyboy123 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 1:28 pmAnyone know what oil viscosity is recommended for the 2020 RS4 in the UK? I ask because I need to correct whoever recommeded it, they should have recommended VW504.00 5w-30 or 0w-30.

Danny Boy will get back to you but in the meantime, I can see the website recommends 0w-20 for a B9 RS4oilman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 5:50 pmIf you don't mind me asking, did you speak to someone here and they recommended 0w-20?Dannyboy123 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 1:28 pmAnyone know what oil viscosity is recommended for the 2020 RS4 in the UK? I just looked on the website. I have ordered 0w30 shell from you guys yesterday. There isnt many 0w30 VW504 oils avaliable, as Audi reccomends. I certainly cant find the Castrol edge proffessional long life 0w30 that Audi recommends. Opie have being great in responding to my emails so thanks.
Re: Oil viscosity
Just to chime in here. I did my due diligence to find the right type of oil.
And I didn't even have a top up bottle to start from.
At the time i contacted the head of service at Audi Derby who suggested some company Audi UK use for stuff. On using this companies web site search engine to find the correct oil using my reg it threw up completely the wrong oil, in fact it recommend a choice of oils for diesels! WTF.
I rang and told Audi Derby and suggested contacting the company and tell them to correct it. I pointed out that if I had followed Audi Derby' s recommendation I would have put the wrong oil in my car. Imagine trying to fight an engine warranty claim further down the line!
It just goes to show if not even the experts can get it right, what hope is there for us poor sods.
Its a good thing some of us have OCD.

Re: Oil viscosity
I dont know why they have to make it that hard. Just write it in the manual. I emailed Audi UK, they just said 50400 oil 0w30.Jools wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:37 pmJust to chime in here. I did my due diligence to find the right type of oil.

I've asked them for a service schedule because, in my eyes if you buy a car you should know exactly what is required maintenance wise. I know in the US they have it avaliable.
Re: Oil viscosity
I have no idea why none of the car manufacturers can't right a proper manual these days. I understand the need to produce generic ones but even those are missing half the info.
I was able to get the full Audi e-manual for my previous A4 from the US as after 3 years out there the manufacturers have to release info to third parties under right to repair.
I've also been lucky and sourced the same for my RS4.
I was surprised when I found out the service intervals are to all intensive purposes the same as my A4 every 19000 miles. I remember having to have my Mk5 Cortina' s oil having to be changed every 6000 miles. Yes I am that old

Air filter change is 60000 miles on the RS4 aswell isnt it? Poor old Cortina would be running a tad rich if the air filter was left in there for that long .

My data is saying VW504.00 5w-30 or 0w-30 for B9 RS4, if you ditch the longlife servicing you can even use VW502.00 5w-40. Is 0w-30 recommended specifically in the handbook anywhere? I ask because I cannot find any data that says 0w-30 specifically.
