Just to chime in here. I did my due diligence to find the right type of oil.
And I didn't even have a top up bottle to start from.
At the time i contacted the head of service at Audi Derby who suggested some company Audi UK use for stuff. On using this companies web site search engine to find the correct oil using my reg it threw up completely the wrong oil, in fact it recommend a choice of oils for diesels! WTF.
I rang and told Audi Derby and suggested contacting the company and tell them to correct it. I pointed out that if I had followed Audi Derby' s recommendation I would have put the wrong oil in my car. Imagine trying to fight an engine warranty claim further down the line!

It just goes to show if not even the experts can get it right, what hope is there for us poor sods.

Its a good thing some of us have OCD.
I dont know why they have to make it that hard. Just write it in the manual. I emailed Audi UK, they just said 50400 oil 0w30.
I've asked them for a service schedule because, in my eyes if you buy a car you should know exactly what is required maintenance wise. I know in the US they have it avaliable.
I have updated my website so it will now recommend VW504.00 for the B9 RS4.

My data is saying VW504.00 5w-30 or 0w-30 for B9 RS4, if you ditch the longlife servicing you can even use VW502.00 5w-40. Is 0w-30 recommended specifically in the handbook anywhere? I ask because I cannot find any data that says 0w-30 specifically.

Cheers,

Guy
Nothing in the handbook Guy, I just spoke with three dealers and then I emailed Audi UK to be sure.

Cheers,

I get all my oil from you nowadays. Love the smell of the strawberry air fresheners!

Keep it up 😎👍

Been confused about oil requirement for my 2021 RS5 since it started telling me I need an old change after less than 6,000 miles! In the end I had the change done by local Audi specialist, not main dealer and they used Quantum 0W-30 Longlife III. Our RSQ3 uses 5W-30 so I was curious to know why two different viscosities are recommended by Audi. I wanted to buy some oil for top-up, so checked Mobil site as I normally use Mobil 1, only to be told that they haven't got a suitable oil for my engine type! Having then tried the 'net and found so many confusing stories about recommended oil, I tried calling Audi Customer Service who were completely clueless and told me that viscosity doesn't matter any more! They said as long as the oil complies with VW 504 00, it's OK. There's no info in the manual, no info on the vehicle itself, and the manufacturer's main customer service department are a shambles! Ridiculous! I remain confused.com!

Oil always seems to be an interesting issue! The RS5 and RSQ3 are different engines so Audi may have a good reason for recommending different specification oils.

As for the RS5 stick to either Castrol EDGE Longlife II 0W-30 or Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 both VW504 spec and I believe both sold by Opie oils and the Castrol oil is also available at Halfords.

Late to the thread but I just bought a liter of oil for my 2018 RS4 and they gave me quantum long life 3 5w-30 so I can still use my Mobile one 5w-30 oil which is good as I have about 3 liters left 😁
