MY21/22 Update?

Hi

I'm just idly wondering whether to change my 2018 RS4 at some point over the next twelve months given that it will be 3+ years old and will have done 40-50K miles by the time i change. I know there was a minor facelift last year but does anyone have the inside track as to whether there'll be a further update in 2021 i.e. MY2022.

It's 'sit on the fence' time for the A4. the 'net rumour mill is suggesting the next incarnation of the A4 - let's call it 'B10' is due in 2022.

Mine’s a 2020 and I prefer the older model because I don’t have to touch the screen to work the functions of the infotainment system. I much rather use a knob and buttons.

Thanks Guys .. I’m with you Avantgarde on the MMI change .. seems like a backwards step and hopefully one that Audi will reverse at some point!

I'd beg to differ - the latest MMI is a massive improvement because it can be effectively controlled using voice commands in plain English. As an example:

I wanted to drive to Kibworth Shooting Ground on Wednesday - not held in my favourites. So driving out of Warwick I pressed the voice button and said "Drive to Kibworth Shooting Ground", MMI displays the destination request on the screen with the correctly spelling too. It uses the internet for the search and came back with "Kibworth Gun Club", there is some sophisticated logic in there to figure out that its the same place. MMI asks if I want to use further search terms or select a line so I say "Line 1". Radio and media sources are voice controlled and supplemented by Amazon Alexa too.

Compared with the 2018 B9 RS4 MMI which was to my mind a jumbled illogical mess, it's big step forward. Not perfect, but a step in the right direction.

Gone are the days when “RS” indirectly meant stripped down or light weight and had less “MMI” tech than their A or S variants of the same model. I honestly don’t want to have to touch my screen or speak to my car.

From what I have seen, the touch screen only MMI is a deal breaker. It is always commented on by reviewers and universally slated.
Nowadays, reviewers put the Audi MMI in 3rd place behind Merc and BMW. It was 1st place when I bought mine in 2018. There is plenty of room for Audi to improve it.

yes there is rumours a foot that Audi will skip a year it going about the net that the A3 will skip to 2022
on the MMI i must admit i don't like the touch screen purely on a ocd point as it would do my head in seeing all the finger prints
why could they not do a combination of controller and touch as some manufactures have done

So those complaining about the MMI haven’t used it and those who have it say it’s ok...... I think we can infer something from that.

I had a 2017 SQ5 with rotary controller, a 2019 M5 with I drive with touchscreen and rotary, and a 2020 RS4 with touchscreen. I am very happy with the latest option - despite my. Reservations when picking.

On the finger prints on a touch screen point - I'm the worst for this with a dry skin condition so use skin creams I do the sticky finger print issue with style, hence being keen to make use of voice commands. Sometimes one has to touch the screen - not so easy in a car with firm suspension and probably the only reason not to like the latest MMI. Getting rid of the greasy fingerprints is easy - and fits neatly in the driver's door pocket: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1

BMW have announced it will be making an estate version of the new AWD M3 (over 500hp).
Audi need to get working on something that can compete with that?

Is that a defo now? Seen a few teasers but didn't think it was a confirmed.
