Re: Google Earth ending December 2020 for 2018 models or older
Just had mine updated for free while in for new thermostat. Stopped working last month.

PS It's still Google albeit through an intermediary

Does it mark Maxar in the display in the top part too now?
I also still have the google logo in it on the map.
I’m curious what mine will do in a few days time.
Today it still worked.
Brought it in today for maintenance, the guy at the counter couldn’t confirm if it was permanently solved on mine.
He also told me there were some issues updating it.

Yes it does say that at the top.

Mine was fixed yesterday as part of a service. Was originally quoted £150 but it was actually done for free. Ostensibly as they mucked me around sourcing some tyres.
I was told when dropping the car off that it would be chargeable as not an issue of Audis making. Either way, I wasn’t charged.
Bigger issue is whether to keep the car when the warranty expires in 6 months.

I got this reply in a few hours from Audi and it might help others who are thinking of getting their cars updated.
I understand the update is dependant on what chip you have in your MMI. They determine your eligibility from the VIN.

Is your map view called "Google Earth" or "Satellite map"?
I think Satellite Map is the updated version.

Software update installed on mine by Oxford Audi under warranty today. The overlay option now says 'Satellite Map' and so far, so good.
Service bod at the dealership also told me that if by chance my car wouldn't take the update, then I'd get £100 service voucher credit instead. Assuming that is an Audi initiative rather than something from the dealer alone.

There is solution for cars with MIB2 with Quallcom chip. Frimware begins with MHI2Q , like MHI2Q_ER_AUG22_P3638_MU0917 or MHI2Q_US_AUG22....
Upgrade is MHI2Q_ER_AUG22_P5092_MU1329 for RoW or EU cars, or MHI2Q_US_AUG22_P5087_MU1316 for US cars.
If You have MIB2 with Nvidia chip, firmware begins with MHI2_ER.... or MHI2_US..., sorry no upgrade possible.
