Hi folks,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to fit a CD player to a 2020 B9 RS4?
I’ve noticed in my brand new B9 RS4 what looks like a slot it would fit into, within the glove compartment.
Has anyone done this?
Got any info on parts required?
Is coding necessary?
Costs?
Thanks in advance for help

Can you fit a CD player to a 2020 B9 RS4?
Re: Can you fit a CD player to a 2020 B9 RS4?
Without wishing to ask a very stupid question - why would you want to?
Assuming the RS4's media bay has a SDXC slot (as does my RSQ3 with a maximum capacity of 256Gb) then you could rip CDs into MP3 format (or another compatible lossless format of your choosing) with Windows Media Player at max quality 320kbps, original CD quality. Worst case, a CD will be no more than 700Mb in size, roughly speaking you could get around 370 CD's onto a card - indexed with artwork....

Hi thanks for getting back. Yeah I know I could rip CD’s. I’ve done this to all my music already at full quality.RS4John wrote:Without wishing to ask a very stupid question - why would you want to?

It’s just I’m a musician & sometimes I get given a CD when I’m travelling. If I’m on the road it would be nice to be able to just play it immediately without having to fire up my laptop , rip it, then copy to a card etc.
So that’s my thinking.
On another issue, you have got me wondering if my the cars. Virtual Cockpit will allow me to change album on a card via the steering wheel. I have my iPhone connected & it will only let you change track of a cd via the steering wheel controls. You have to use the touch screen to choose a different album or playlist. It’s a pretty poor system on the updated 2020 virtual cockpit. Similarly I can’t access my phones address list via the steering wheel / virtual cockpit. It was available on the pre face lift. Sure there voice dialling but it’s hit or miss. My dealer has raised it with Audi to see if they have a fix, update for both
Thanks for your help though. I’m still keen to get a CD player if it’s avail.

Portable CD player with a USB connection: https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-Porta ... 5405&psc=1
I'm in the Galaxy S20+ Android camp, when streaming music from Amazon Music unlimited (using the phone as a Bluetooth audio source) - from the steering wheel's left control I can only see the current track, the right side enables forward/back - but no visibility of the other tracks available - album art is shown. Same on the iPhone by the sound of it?
If the music source is the SD card then being able to navigate to the top of the folder tree with the left side steering wheel controls isn't possible (was on my 2018 B9), however the voice control system seems to be much more sophisticated now so "Play John Mayer As Is" finds and loads the album.
I haven't tried Android Auto on this RSQ3 yet - last experience was on the 2018 RS4.

Regrettably am not providing 'an answer' to your query, but there was (single) CD player in glovebox of the 2018 B9 RS4 so, given that you see a 'slot' in the 2020 B9 it seems that this Player has been de-contented from the new MMI.spidmack wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:53 amHi folks,

This probably sounds too simple to be viable, but giving a shot.
Using that glovebox slot, might you be able to find aftermarket CD player, that allows you to link up to 2020 B9 AUX port and have a Remote Control in / under your armrest?

Hi yeah It’s the same on an iPhone you can only skip or go back a track. It’s not possible to change album. Far from the best system.RS4John wrote:Portable CD player with a USB connection: https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-Porta ... 5405&psc=1

I raised it with the dealer I purchased the car from. They in turn have been in touch with Audi Tech support. I’m not really expecting a solution or at least one soon
Maybe in time Audi will update the software.
Thanks for the info
