Front breaks squeal, Audi claim is normal but it’s doing my head in!

Hi all,
Brought my Audi B9 2020 RS4 carbon edition and I love it.. apart from the brakes squeal, I took it into a local Audi dealership to which they said this is normal with RS brakes.. not the answer you want when you save up for your dream car
I’ve also been doing hard breaking from 60/70mph for a couple times which seems to help for a day or so but it returns, has anyone got any more recommendations?
I’ve read that changing the brake pads to EBC redstuff pads can work but don’t really want to be forced into spending more after only owning for 2 months.
Thank you all
James

My RS3 squeaked like a pig as did the RS4. Perhaps extreme but I changed both for AP Racing. Others change the pads and/or disks for non OE which also seems to do the trick.

Some hard braking will bed the disks and pads
This is common through out the RS range
Lots of threads on this
But in short you need to find a quite stretch of road and brake as hard as you can with out tripping the ABS from 70 to 10 mph don't stop and repeat this at least 8 times
This will remove any pad build up and get rid of the squeal
Ive never had to change the disks or pads from OEM and this method had always worked if my brakes start to squeak but that doesn't happen often for me
As every time i get a new car or change the disks i bed in the brakes straight away using the above method

Crazy really,
I have the same car & have had the same issues,
I collected my on March 7TH now 4K in & still Brake Squeal !!!!
Audi said the same thing.
I will try the hard breaking method next time I am in the Car.
Thankyou
Will be back with Results, I don't fancy changing or upgrading brakes yet

I have had an RS car since 2007 and I have never had more than a couple of squeaks out of the brakes in the years I have had the cars.
Perhaps the fact that I like to drive hard helps? If not then I can't explain it, I use standard main dealer brake discs & pads & everything.

Thanks all, sadly with most of my driving being around London and 20 mph zones it’s difficult to drive hard, I’ll have to get out tommorow and find some good roads and do the 70-10mph trick and see how I get on.
Thank you all for the feedback, apart from that I absolutely love the car, also very impressed with the MPG, got 35mpg On a motorway run the other day, didn’t expect that when choosing the car! Not complaining

Just have Redstuff pads put in - not only do they not squeak (had them in my B9 RS4), there is also negligible dust and minimal disc wear (polishes them like a mirror), absolute no brainer. So the current RSQ3 has them installed now too - perfect.

Thanks all.
Think I’ll contact Audi again, as the breaking from 70-10 mph only seems short term fix .. have to keep repeating
But sounds like I’ll be getting those redstuff pads, did you get for all 4 or just the front wheels, where it seems to be the area that squeaks ?

Hey James
I'll need to check back though my receipts as this was almost 2 years ago.
I recorded the noise for them.
Let me find the receipt and I will be back in touch.
Cheers
Jeremy

Being a bit OCD I did both ends although it was only the front that squeaked - it is actually a common caliper, there are a few Audi vehicles that use it - Q7 is one that springs to mind.

also a trick when fitting the pads some copper coat on the backs help stop and squeak
but ideally these brake where designed for hard use not city driving
and if you look most of the guys complaining of squeaky disks mostly do stop start city traffic
i can say owning all the RS4 over the years its not been i problem i have encountered much and a good hard brake session clears it up and normaly will be 6 months plus before i need to do the procedure again
