Panoramic sunroof

Hello,

I have an RS4 on order and am contemplating adding the sunroof to my options.

Does anyone on the forum have the sunroof, and if they do, how does it impact on performance and handling.

Many thanks in advance. :beerchug:

It's a nice option to have and definitely helps when selling on. I personally wouldn't have a car without one.
Can't comment on performance and handling as haven't driven one without a sunroof but I would bet you wouldn't notice a difference, especially day to day.
Having said that, I haven't got the B9 yet so am talking about my old B8.
Should have B9 on March 1st so I'll let you know what I think!

Thanks, Nastro👍.

A lot of scare stories about sunroofs (not specifically about Audi’s) on line and you just don’t know what to believe or dismiss.

I’ve read that the potential weight gain is in the region of 25-50kg and was worried that this would have a detrimental effect on acceleration and cornering .....not that it’ll be going anywhere near a track.

You mention that you have a B8 .....what about other issues such as creaking and leaking?

Thanks again😀👍

Imho don't bother with sunroof. Heavy and prone to problems, squeeks etc.

B9 doesn't sound great so opening the roof won't be a nice experience!

No problems with creaks or leaks in the B8 in the time I owned it. Then sold to a friend and he had no issues either. I had the car from new so can't comment on problems on older cars.
It brightens up the cabin ( especially if you have dark interior ) and it's great when the sun is shining!
Obviously you're getting a new car with a warranty so wouldn't worry about any issues as they will be covered by the warranty.
I did buy a new car ( mercedes ) without a sunroof once; really missed it so like I said before, wouldn't buy a car without one now.
Also, when people are looking for used luxury cars, you'll always see the ones without sunroofs always take longer to sell.
Stick it on the order; you won't regret it!

The extra glass provides a lot more light and there is a motorised blind you can utilise as well.

I’ve come out of several convertibles so don’t think you can beat an open roof in the spring and summer. I’ve seen more with than without and I know from selling my B8 with a sunroof it was a big attraction.

I had a pano in mine - 'normal', i.e. not Press cars have all black interiors which is a bit tomb like, I wouldn't by any high-end Audi without the option. They are a service item - there is a schedule to keep them greased/lubricated when fitted - £120 from memory.

Thanks for all the comments.

It does seam to be an option that divides opinion. My build week isn’t until w/c 27th April, so I have two or three weeks to decide.

Although, I haven’t specced it thus far, I’m also erring towards DRC.

I’m aware of certain historic issues from other Audi forums and was wondering as to how owners of B9 DRC equipped cars are finding the reliability of the units.

Thanks once again👍.

Never had problems with DRC on the B8 but then I didn’t do high mileage when I had it.
Always listening out for it after everything I had read which was probably just as annoying!!
What’s the spec on your order if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks, Nastro👍.

Although it’s certainly an issue, probably the vast majority of DRC equipped cars experience no problems whatsoever.

The spec of my car is as follows:

Standard RS4
Nogaro Blue
Silver Leather
Comfort and Sound Pack
Driver Assitance Pack
20” 5 arm alloys
RS Sports Exhaust
Panoramic Sunroof
Dynamic Ride Control - not yet specced but 95% likely

Sounds nice.
I’ve ordered turbo blue as couldn’t bring myself to spend 2.4k on paint (as much as I love Nogaro)
At your spec you must be getting close to price of Vorsprung edition.
Not seen a turbo blue RS in the flesh yet.
Hope I like it when I pick it up.....😳

You will never notice the difference in performance or handling on the road.

I’ve had pano roofs on all of my cars for over 15 years from a number of manufacturers

I love the extra light but every single one, up until the latest ones on my current fleet have gone wrong. That is bmw, Audi and merc.

I still always order it though.

Great Spec,

I was thinking of ordering the Standard car but it wouldn't let me op Black styling pack which I really would like,
Having to go for a Carbon ,
Spec: Pan Roof,Comfort & Sound, Sports Exhaust.

As all have said Pan roof a must for me especially with Kids it the back , gives more light in the Cabin

I will more than likely opt for Navarra Blue,

Turbo Blue looks great , as you say £2400 for an exclusive is a bit strong

Had a panoramic on my 2 golf R estates, 2 RS3’s, 2 RS4’s, 1 RS6 & 1 C63 amg estate.

Always seems as a positive value add on sale/exchange, adds light, always used when not raining & never had an issue with a pan roof.

If you have the option , my opinion is go for it!
