Thoughts on B9 used cars

Post by didsby » Sat Jan 18, 2020 10:04 pm

Hi all

Been looking into an Rs4 over the past year / 18 months or so and think I will be looking to change cars over the next couple of months. With leaving it a bit longer I’d be able to afford a used B9 up-to about £55k.

Have been in to see a couple of dealers and had a test drive in an 18 plate car which was on the 20 inch wheels with standard suspension which I found to be fine.

Have read a few threads about options and happy that this is a bit of a personal thing.

I’m really looking for a bit of opinion on some of the cheap (relatively!) 19 plate sport editions listed at around £57-58k and following conversations dealers seem keen to negotiate.

Are these the sweet spot in terms of buying a used car? I wouldn’t want anything with +10k miles so it seems they would only be a couple of grand more than a we’ll specd 18/68 plate.

Am I missing anything?

GPF cars so even quiter than an already quiet car? Don't know if they are GPF or not.

if you have been keeping an eye on prices they are failing with many dealers struggling to sell used stock

there are so many more RS4's for sale now than there was 3-4months ago

with the new FL model appearing anytime dealers are trying hold the price keen for the hope they can shift them before the new 20reg cars come out

but in hind sight i'd say hangfire and wait for the 24-18month old RS4 flooding the dealers and prices adjusting to sub 50k

I'm hoping a surge of out-of-warranty cars hit the market come 20-plate time and the used prices that have so far refused to budge will plunge well under £50k.

It will be another year before that happens mine was one of the first on an 18 plate and I also took out an extra year warranty. There were some earlier cars but mainly press cars.

Yeah the very 1st B9 RS4 Press cars were registered in the last days of 2017 I recall, amazing to think they will be hitting their 3rd birthdays at the end of this year. Was talking to a dealer contact recently who was saying many potential new car purchase customers are sitting on the fence, holding out for Audi to get their EV act together.
