Oil change after a year ?

My car is approaching a year old and has done a gently 8,000 miles.

Any views as to the worth of having the oil changed or any other type of service ?

Thanks,

Mine came up on the screen and was done at 9k miles. I'd do it.

I'm in almost the same position. 10 months old and 6,000 not so gentle miles.

I believe that the app and the sensors etc will be done by teams of engineers who understand the demands of an engine and the characteristics of oil. They will have thought long and hard about it.
If Audi say it doesn't need an oil change then it doesn't need an oil change. I just don't see any incentive for Audi to understate the oil changing requirement especially on an RS where owners would go for a 1,000 mile running in service without question.

Therefore I am going to wait until it asks for an oil change which looks like it will be almost 2 years from new.

The RS models still have fixed and variable service options right? It sounds like you are on variable (long life), I believe a default but incorrect if you are doing only 6K miles in 10 months.

I do max 15k KM with the same oil. I changed so far at 5k and at 15k, next will be at 30k.
I did run it in more than propperly, and with the oil changes the engine runs sweet.
So far I have added just once 1/2 liter of oil, it went down one bar in the app.
Which is normal in my book.

Mine's just passed 12 months old, and is on 13,300 miles, and as yet has not flashed up for a service yet
It did tell me oil was running low, but as mentioned on the other thread, the indicator came up to add 'minimum 1.25ltr' so I added 1.5 and now it's telling me that it's overfilled !! Dealer said it was fine, and warning is only on sporadically, but it's starting to do my head in to be honest.
Oh well, it's not my problem at the moment anyhow, as I got tangled up in someone else's crash on the M4 on Sunday, so it's currently in a bodyshop for a new wing, bumper, bonnet and grill

That is long life servicing - typically every 18k/ 2 years. Fine if high mileage but 9k/12 months is kinder to the engine at lower mileages. And Audi say that themselves.

Damn, that sucks! Hopefully it will be restored to perfection.

I’m getting quoted £500 for first inspection/oil change on mine at 17500 by UK Main dealer. That’s an RS ouch!

Similar - 13.5k and 14mths old. I've always taken in my own oil and it knocks about £150 off price. Buy exactly the same oil on Amazon for about 30% of what Audi charge.

Change it. Oil does a lot more than just provide a lubricant - it's used for cooling and flushing debris away from bearing surfaces.

Having had numerous Audi cars I've noted that somewhere around the 20,000 mile mark the car gets a different personality - you'll get in one morning and drive down the road only to discover that it has becomes an aggressive rev-hungry animal. I've concluded that as Audi's engineers have no control over the availability of drivers with 'mechanical sympathy' that they slightly cripple the engine ECU with a more conservative map - once a pre-set driving distance has been exceeded the engine is assumed to be fully bedded in and max performance is made available.

The current RSQ3 has just got past the 20k mark - same behaviour.
