How to get a new car - 4 wheel chassis alignment check

Post by RS4John » Fri Jan 04, 2019 12:38 pm

So had the car for 3 plus months and one of the things on the list to get done was a 4 wheel chassis alignment check - even brand new cars are often not as perfect as you'd hope.

Corrected it's a literal night and day difference to drive - hardly surprising when all the wheels are pointing in the same direction!

..you'd wonder why this is not checked / adjusted as needed when it rolls off end of line (with testing that is done at that work station). Is it just that Audi's allowed tolerances are 'that loose' ?? Is it just that this is normal variance that occurs over time after car comes off end of assy line??

The Silverline guys said that cars with large alloys/tyres are more vulnerable to having the alignment knocked out by potholed roads which the UK contingent here will know is a bit of an issue. New cars tend to experience the effect of the suspension 'settling' on new bushes and mounts and would, ideally, need checking within the 1st year - TX I would recommend getting it done.
