Hi just found this forum, have the latest RS4 coming up for 1 year old now. Had the thermostat problem but think mine was stuck shut. The RAC bloke told me VAG group notorious for it. Wasn't impressed thankfully didn't get too hot!!! Tonight just had a weird one, the car sounded a bit different and when putting door down, revs went up but no increase in speed. Didn't do it in S though, going to have to get that looked at.

Mhhh looks like the thermostat is a returning issue too.
Never heard the revving without moving, but there was someone with a fluctuating rpm while driving...
Maybe one has to do with the other.
Please keep us updated. Oh, and welcome!

What’s the thermostat thing? - I’ve not heard of that , I need to add it to my paranoia list. I’m off to check my exhausts too.

Hi just noticed in the last week that on start up the car revs to about 1500rpm and jumps up and down.
Is this a little jiggle or possibiliy an issue starting ?
Also recently noticed on start up (first thing in morning) that when I set off it has a little bunny hop, not had this before and wondering if linked to the above, something else or just another quirk of the car

Thanks in advance guys

They certainly have 'character' don't they? Mine decided one morning this week that the idle speed should be 1200 rpm when warmed up, later in the day it returned to normal.

Mine starts at 1300 rpm and then drops to 1000 rpm and finally stays at around 800 rpm.
In S it stays at 1000 rpm.
Talking about 20 sec or so (time for the gate to open)
At idle sometimes it shakes the car a bit when cold.
Looks like all do this.

Sound a bit like the rough loud start on the B8's they calm down after about 30 sec's on cold start up
so probably normal

So the DRC issue definitely excists, I had 2 actuators replaced.
A new development: I noticed my exhaust tips are already getting pitted.
And that after just a mild winter.
The dealer contacted Audi, I still have to get a reply.
RS6 has the same problem seems like it runs in the family. Lol.

Passenger seat belt - when the seat is unoccupied - the buckle part either knocks that side of the seat or the B post - drives me nuts. Going to have to find a solution.

Solution - thanks to S4tokyo for taking the trouble to PM me complete with a picture.

Careful inspection reveals that there is a 'friction sleeve' wrapped around the belt itself, however in my case the passenger belt sleeve one had slipped so far down that the belt buckle tongue could knock the side of the seat. The sleeve can be repositioned under the buckle when the belt is fully retracted - perfect!

Thanks again.

I’ve noticed this morning that the tailgate close button on tailgate has stopped working. It can be closed from the drivers door switch but not from tailgate. There isn’t some stupid setting or “turned off” switch I’ve nudged is there?

I don’t think so. There are some settings of it in the mmi. But I don’t think it can be disabled.
However, it is sensitive to where the key is.
Try putting it in your pocket the farthest away from the car. Denpends if you’re left or right handed.
It may be registring your key to is in the boot even if it’s not when it’s too close.
