Matrix LED lights

Post by JampoTT » Mon Nov 05, 2018 11:08 am

I'll keep this simple - at night, do you keep the 'full beam' on regardless and just let it do its stuff?

Or only put the full beams on when you get on a dark country lane?

Never had 'clever' headlights before and I don't want to blind anybody!!

You do have to push headlight dip/main beam stalk away from you every time your start the car (even with the headlight switch set to auto).

You will see a headlamp icon in white on the display with AUTO below it - the lights do their own thing after that.

Great, I'll try it! Only picked up on Wednesday so still going through all of the features.

Major 'trust exercise' with the Adaptive Cruise (and self-parking) but at least with those I know I'm not annoying other road users! Was far more hesitant to just 'play' with the matrix lights though, as I know how annoying and dangerous it can be to blind others.

I'll do that then - push the stalk out and let it do its thing.

Today I have to drive 175 miles to Manchester. Woo hoo!

The first time you use them, especially out in the pitch dark countryside you can't help but feel like you are about to have a visual wince as some poor extremely p1$$ed off driver vents his anger at being blinded - but it never happens.

I don't turn them on if starting off in a well lit area. Do click them when I get to the "countryside" and just leave them on from then.

On the C7 they don't do anything in a brightly lit area. We have 2 symbols on the dash, there is a white one to tell you that you have switched then on then the blue one comes on when it is dark enough to function so the blue light switches on and off depending on how brightly lit the area is. Obviously if the area is too bright the camera won't be able to detect the tail lights or headlights of an approaching car.

I think the B9 is the same MikeFish - the symbol on the dash is white when 'armed' and blue when 'activated'.

I just turn them on when I start up the car. Very clever not had one person flash me yet, not sure what it must be like in a car in front when you are lighting up the sides of the road ahead of them.

I’ve got them on the merc and it gets caught out by the car in front if they have a tail light out - it blinds that side of the car !

Their own fault for not maintaining their car properly in my eyes !

Kinda annoying you need to switch them on.
Amazingly I have not had the chance to use it properly yet.
