Audi seem to be focusing on the e-tron at the moment.
etron in French means turd (or excrement), biggest naming department cockup since the VW Toe Rag

I live Japan (foreigner here) and have been waiting several MONTHS for Audi Japan to launch RS4.
Latest news reported fromDealer is that Production (restart) is planned from start of Nov. Whether that is executed or not I can't vouch for BUT advance Customer orders for RS4 have eventually started, which suggests to me that SOP IS about ti restart - post this whole WLTP debacle.
Consequently I've just placed my order

[.... Dealers taking orders w/existing Owners ahead of 'official' launch PR here].

Have received schedule that own build will start Nov 26 [and be completed Dec 13]. Presumably other car builds are started before that, although I'v no idea is production planning based on 'first (order) in first out', OR are certain country / region build orders given priority at certain times?

I was at my dealer in Germany to get my seat fixed.
The salesman told me to expect the next ones in 2020.

Just learned that, although 'vehicle assembly start' shifted just 3 days from previous Nov 28 schedule to Dec 1, the 'assembly / build completion' which was due Dec 13 will now end up being Jan 14th.
How can vehicle assembly which was planned to take 2 weeks, now take EXTRA 4 weeks?
It is what it is. Xmas / NY holidays no doubt play a large part, but from 2 to 6 weeks

I hope s4tokyo is right, but there are a lot of rumors.
My dealer said 2020, and on Belgian Audi lovers a Belgian salesman told the new production will have the 2 screen dashboard of the to be introduced new A4.
We’ll have to wait and see.

Wait what they are updating the a4?
I can’t see them releasing the rs4 on the new platform when it comes out

It will be because of the way the OEM automotive supply chain works. If you visit a modern car assembly plant there are no massive warehouses of components waiting to be used but rather a process known as 'line sequencing with zero inventory' where the component OEMs are working to a just in time (JIT) principle and the components arrrive track-side at the precise moment (or very close to) the moment they are required. The nightmare scenario is that at the precise point a component is required and it isn't there the assembly process continues with the offending component not fitted. This is is expensive for everyone with OEM supplier paying a huge penalty.
So if there any delays or changes 'up stream' then the whole processing of sequencing the OEM suppliers (who also try to work to a JIT/zero inventory principle) to the assembly process has to be recalculated and communicated to the suppliers - when one considers the complexity of the process then 4 weeks is actually remarkably short time interval.
