Ceramic brakes....

So will be trading my C7 in soon for a new or pre-owned B9. Never had ceramics before, and wondering if advisable or not given the car is a daily driver.
I know the discs are supposed to last 100k but if any issues you’re looking at mega money to replace the discs?
Are the rear discs ceramic or steel?
If issues is it possible to swap for steel? (Guessing not!)
Looking for advice from people who have experience with ceramics.....

Ceramics are a dream to live with as daily or more 100k life span is easy if there looked after
Smooth braking no judder ever always there no matter how hot
I’m now on 400mm steels I miss the ceramics to the point I’m looking for some more

You can retrofit steels if you wanted to same as you can retrofit ceramics. And normally would require matching calipers and pads. Normally requires a bit of coding too.
Downsides other than cost to replace are that a lot of people report that they squeek a lot.

Also note that B9 is only ceramic at the front.

Oh and I think it is fronts only on the B9.

So calipers are different too? So in terms of the b9, rears are just standard steels with different coloured calipers, but fronts are obviously ceramic discs, but are the calipers different (apart from colour) or are the calipers same as calipers that come with steels?

Not sure on the B9 but they are different on the B7 and C7. I imagine this is mainly because the ceramic discs are larger than their steel equivalents (I read this was due to the ceramics getting hotter so needed to be bigger than the steel equivalent). Possibly different thickness too.
However, I'm told the rear C7 ceramics use the same calipers as the steels but just a different colour.

I have them on mine.
They're front only.
They don't squeek, braking is unreal.
Calipers are different, so is the software. (Brakes by itself more from time to time in the rain to keep them dry)
Rears are steel and calipers are also painted grey.
Downside is the high replacing cost. But for the rest... Dang.
The lower weight is a bonus too.

Just to throw a different perspective in to the equation I have friends with 911 turbo Ss and Lambo Performante which have ceramics as standard and they have put steels on their car ....
