Does anyone know if the 2019 model will have wireless Apple Carplay?

Not really a great system even if it was wireless it sucks.
I only hook up with the cable on long drives so I have the roof antenna in use.

I sometimes use Android Auto on long journeys for the Google Maps and Waze navigation which I find has superior traffic info to Audi.
Never use Car Play and I do have an iPhone too.

I doubt anyone on here will know what's in next years car or even if it will be any different to this years.

The reason it sucks is it is a touch screen based system and Audi have implemented it on a non touch screen and made it difficult to get to the home button.

Yep - I have apple CarPlay in two cars (via aftermarket pioneer head units), and also tried it in a rental B9 A4 for a couple of days. Not having touchscreen makes it a lot harder to use.

My only complaints of the (touchscreen) system are:

1. Being tied into Apple maps, although it’s getting better
2. That there aren’t more CarPlay compatible apps. I’d particularly like to see soundcloud and Mixcloud on there. Although I can play Audi from either via the connection, I can’t control the app from the screen.

I think Android Car is awesome - I use it all the time to stream music (over Deezer) and I find the controls quite comfortable. Google Maps is better than Audi's built-in map (Even with Google Earth overlay) and the alternate route calculatations are alot faster / better on android too.

I don't like driving with a mobile phone in my trouser pocket, so having it to plug in is no real hassle for me.

While wireless android/apple car may be convenient, it will drain your battery (Unless you have one of the Qi compatible phones).

Holy shitballs! I had to google this as I didn’t believe Apple would go back to allowing other navigation apps to feature on CarPlay - but it’s true! Google maps too apparently.

I also discovered recently Mixcloud is CarPlay compatible.

That’s it - I’m ripping the OEM unit out of the R8 and putting a CarPlay one in!

:)

I didn’t believe it either but there we go.

Perhaps Apple actually listening to feedback for once

I think I will actually use CarPlay once waze is enabled
