UK video test of the B9 RS4 (ex-Gordon Shedden!)
Hi,
I'm an old B5/B7 RS4 owner and a contributor to Audi Driver magazine.
Audi UK loaned me a B9 Audi RS4 on Wednesday and I made a detailed video which you might be interested in.
I'm not a professional video maker, it's just a hobby but hopefully you will enjoy it.
It's a hugely impressive car but then you probably know that!

Yep - since Im taking delivery in 3 weeks I’m glad you liked it. The black pack takes care of your silver trim issues - I wish they would give you guys standard suspension cars though - as one question most prospective owners ask is - do I need DRC? Anyway - great review!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Black pack but not Carbon Edition sounds perfect, thanks for the heads up
Yes as ever, spec can have a big influence and it's impossible to compare standard suspension with DRC back to back.
All I can say was that the car as configured was a revelation and that you do need to be careful when speccing an Audi to 'tune' it to UK roads. For largely perfect German asphalt there is more leeway.
Below is the spec sheet of this car, a lot of it I could personally do without but some bits I'd really miss;

Good review thanks for sharing
i see there was no dynamic steering on the spec list
if this is correct how did you find the steering feed back

good video. I have gone with Silver as I reckon everyone ( no offence) will go for the black trim. Just wanted something a bit different, on saying that I have gone for the non painted version as well which seems to be the most popular colour. Might end up wrapping all the silver carbon, see how it looks.

RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though

Re: UK video test of the B9 RS4 (ex-Gordon Shedden!)
Yes indeed, I didn't think about the steering once during the day which was a good sign.
I never thought the steering felt odd or unnatural which is quite unusual for a fast Audi.
I left in Comfort on Individual for most of the time and it was spot on.
Feedback was good enough, you could really place the car and it gave confidence.
The very last bit of the video was when I got a very sharp increase of my appreciation of what they've managed to do with this car.
I barreled into a corner a bit fast expecting understeer and it went into slight oversteer (there was a bit of rear tyre squeal) which needed a correction (though I am sure ESC which was still on would have done its thing if required). It's as if the electronics are programmed to send drive to outer rear wheel to avoid understeer at all costs, at least when in Dynamic mode.
My point is that I wasn't really expecting this yet when it happened the feedback was so good that it felt perfectly natural to counter steer a touch, as if the was trying to impress me (which it did!) but not kill me, still smiling about it today!

None taken! Ulimately all this is subjective and if you live in a part of the country where you wont attract the wrong kind of attention (I don't) then I can see the appeal more. Unpainted & matt alu styling pack is an interesting one, might actually like that a lotPaulm wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 8:31 amgood video. Nice vid! I think I passed you around 6:15pm on Weds as I was approaching Milton Keynes on the A422 - funnily enough around Chicheley where the UK launch was 6 months agoneckarsulm wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 9:16 pmHi,

Re: UK video test of the B9 RS4 (ex-Gordon Shedden!)
Thanks Ian_C!
I was definitely around there but not a 1815 as the car had to be back at MK by 1715 (you tend to remember these deadlines as it's so easy to go astray on timing if you don't).
While the main bulk of the filming was around Silverstone/Stowe/Brackley/Buckingham, the very helpful Alex from Audi UK's press office took me to the quiet road that Chicheley is on and that's where the external driving shots were filmed plus the sign off piece, a nice road with very few buildings but even so the sonorous sports exhaust still managed to wind some of the locals up!
(I got back from there at 1718 )
