You do realise you have only turned the “unlock” feature off. You can still “lock” the car via touching any of the touch pads on the handles.
I certainly do, I lock my car about a hundred times while washing it.

In your instance it would make sense to leave your keys inside the house whilst you are washing it. No you don’t need to tell me I already know! I could be a brain surgeon with how intelligent I am.

Talking of keys purely by accident found out that the key will slide between the bits that hold your cups in the cup holders like they where made to hold the key, this must be a coincidence and not a designed feature.

I do this too... Something satisfying about it sitting in there....

Saw Schmee150 doing it in his 'review' of the RS4.

It's a German car. It must have been designed. :)

If anyone is searching for info on the advanced key and finds this thread then, now that I have the car, let me say that Ian_C was right in saying there is an option that enables/disables whether the door opens by just touching the door handle.
So no need for faraday pouch, steering lock etc.

Just got my RS6 today. The keyless entry is a pain in the......

Happy with start with key in the car somewhere, but unlocking when key is near the car is painful. You can never be sure the car is locked. Or it unlocks as you walk away etc. Just want to turn it off for a simple life.

However on the picture above my MMI doesn’t have the last “Convenience” option on the list. Any help appreciated.

Not sure what you mean, it’s pretty much the same as Audis have been for the last ten years, lock by putting your hand on the outside of the handle and unlock by putting your hand on the inside of the handle. Haven’t had any issues with this so far.

".... You can never be sure the car is locked. ...." ;
if the mirrors have folded, isn't that a visual cue that car is locked? ....or am I mistaken that it's possible to lock car, have mirrors folded, yet car not be completely locked?

I’m the complete opposite. On my S5 that I’ve had since 2010 I’ve probably pressed the remote button less than 10 times. Always door handles. Has been much the same with my 2020 RS4.

My feelings too, keyless entry is not only a PITA but also a fairly big security risk
so I really wanted to avoid keyless entry but I was forced to spec it as it came with the B&O sound system.

I was pleased to find that I could disable it but the option "Open with convenience key" is the only method I know to disable the keyless entry. My car is a 2018, I think it was new in 2018. Is your RS6 an earlier year?
