Just had a call from the dealer, the transport from Grimsby to the dealer was ahead of schedule and they now have it. I can now collect on Friday :jump_clap:. Just a shame I wont be able to drive it for 2 weeks until it is wrapped in ppf.

Stink some cling film on as a temporary measure....

..... I kid you not I was at Spa a couple of years back and some young guys rocked up in a couple of Porsche GT4s and then proceeded to cover the front of the car in something not dissimilar to cling film/shrink wrap!

Pretty it was not.

Can’t answer for effectiveness either!

When I went to Vmax a few years back, there was lots of cars with an industrial sticky wrap on all the leading edges of the wheel arches to stop the stones from the track flicking up and damaging the paint. A keonigsegg was pretty much covered below the door handles with the stuff

Ive asked the dealer to leave all the transport covers/Stickers on the car, so I will be collecting it with the bonnet and roof covered in white and the rest of the car green, ive also asked them not to clean/vallet the car. I am probably going to get a few funny looks on the 100 mile journey home! Once home it will be sat in the garage for a week until Signaiture Group can fit it in to ppf it. Definitely not driving it again until its protected.

As long as you don't go crazy and avoid high speed you should be fine for a week, nothing the detailer won't be able to fix.

That is pretty committed to wait that long in the unlikely event you have an issue but fair play

My mate left his new huracan performante at the Shop for about 3 weeks until they could protect it - slight diff is that it had the £15k Matt orange paint job.

I’ve always decided what will he will be with my Daily cars.

The lotus has partial wrap but if the stone is that determined it will still get through ppf

I couldn't wait 2 weeks. But mine is a daily driver that gets plastered in mud on rural roads. All my protective prep is DIY and takes 15 mins - rubber over- mats, Hatchbag for the wet dog and a strip of PPF on top of the rear bumper to stop him scratching it. Ironically, given that my RS often looks like it has just finished a rally, I have never had a problem with paintwork when I sell 3 years / 45k later other than peppered inside lips of lower wheel arches.

I drove mine for the 2 weeks I had to wait for the detail and wrap. I just made sure I didn't tailgate anyway and generally took it easy especially on bad roads. No damage was done.

What's the deal if the detailer finds any paint damage (and what would be identified during the PDI)?

I hope your car hasn’t got Audi Phone box. As of 2pm yesterday Audi U.K. have blocked all new cars being released or registered which have the phone box. I was also told even used cars are blocked. All cars that are out there will need to be recalled as well. It sounds like it is a software issue but for some reason they are not allowing cars to be released. They’ve said as a temp fix they may unplug the box and make me sign some form of disclaimer. I know this as I was/am picking mine up today.

It's across Porsche too - it's something to do with the strength of the signal repeater not meeting an Ofcom reg. No porsches are allowed out of the dealership until at least next week (until the fix is ID'd & complete)
