It's across Porsche too - it's something to do with the strength of the signal repeater not meeting an Ofcom reg. No porsches are allowed out of the dealership until at least next week (until the fix is ID'd & complete)
Porsche seem to have a quick temporary fix (probably unplug the repeater). My neighbour’s car was initially delayed but phoned yesterday to say his pick up can go ahead today as normal. The car will have to go back in for a proper fix though.

Yep, that's what I've been reading...there looks like there'll be a recall on it too for any cars running the dodgy kit...I'll be honest, I think the signal available in my Macan TPP is the best I've experienced in a car, so will probably avoid the fix if at all possible...

so post fix, is the signal repeater going to be stronger or weaker?

I can only think it is too powerful and so will be weaker

Basically the only fix at the moment is having it disconnected so as to release car for use. They have said all cars with phone box is affected. They don’t know when a full fix is available but when they know all cars will be recalled. The frustrating part for me is I had to opt it but didn’t need it. It was part of the tech pack. I dunno if I’ll even use it.

Thats going to be a pain in the arse for buyers new and used - even more so if your tax/mot/insurance/warranty is about to run out. Wasn't Cuttsy also carless for a few weeks for this very reason, awaiting his B9 RS4, getting shot of his old car early?

And this might sound stupid, but most dealers are seriously tight on space, if they have even just one weeks backlog of new and used that cannot go out and they have to hold onto, that is scores and scores of cars they have to park somewhere, keep on stocking finance, valet a second time etc etc

Well as it happens mine was the very first in the queue to be authorised freedom. That still took 5 hours for some penpusher at Auk to tap a few keys at his desk. I was told there is a form they have to fill out after disconnecting the phone box and then plugging diagnostics to show it was dead on HQ computer. Fcuking ball ache if you ask me. It only affects phone box fitted cars though so who knows how it’s gonna affect the dealers.

Yes exactly why I was carless due to my car taking almost 10 weeks from build week to pick up.

What apart from wireless charging does the phone box actually do? Unless your iPhone is plugged in apple car play doesn't work according to my dealer so I opted to exclude it.

Yes 10 weeks and the most ironic bit is my local head of business phoned me directly one day and asked me why I don't buy cars from them after they serviced several of my Audi's and I was honest and told them, the deals weren't good enough the service from the sales people wasn't the best, the one car I did buy from them spent more time in the dealers than on my drive due to an argument between the dealer and Audi Germany about a new gearbox... but this time I gave them another chance.

I had the same with my local. Five Audi’s in 7 years, four RS cars and none from my local as they were crapola. Test drove R8, but they took the piss with a 30 min test drive most of which was spent behind a white van. Porsche handed over a car for a weekend and bent over backwards. Audi wouldn’t do the same, though I know some dealer groups will. Their loss.

Last car was from Kings Lynn. They were excellent. Their now head of business is a really decent guy and I’d recommend them to anyone.
