RS4 carbon or New Cayenne S

Post by Iannorwich » Fri Feb 02, 2018 7:38 pm

I do around 18,000 miles a year and typically only change my car around 6-7 years, I’m torn between the Audi and the Porsche. My thinking is Porsche will depreciate less than the Audi so the cost of ownership will be about the same, what’s people thoughts?

RS4 carbon or New Cayenne S

Can you get a Cayenne S before the factory shutdown? If not already ordered I’d imagine not.

Cayenne doesn’t have amazing residuals, however if you can get one before the shutdown that may skew things in your favour. RS4 at full price or even a small discount is going to be substantially less than 50% at three years.

But which has better residuals at 6 years and 100k+ miles?

Personally I think after that many years and miles the cost of ownership difference between the 2 would be insignificant if I bought the wrong car in terms of driving enjoyment.
I'd test drive both and buy the one that will be most fun to drive and own for 100k+ miles.

Well, I’d rather deal with Porsche than Audi, if that’s a factor.

Not exactly similar cars either.

New Cayenne doesn’t arrive until April, there will be about a months’ supply and then nowt until 4Q.

Totally different cars so difficult to advise.

I suspect the cayenne will be an awesome car but it is big which days would put me off.

Surely a Macan turbo S would be better all around and what I would have if the 3

Macon Turbo S? There’s no such thing!

New Cayenne is only marginally bigger than a Macan.

Might just squeeze a PP in before the shutdown, and likely facelift.

I’ve got a PP on order...should arrive next month. Happy to get now pre shutdown. Think this might be the end of current Macan, likely to go to FL and the new engines...i.e. RS4 engine in the new Macan turbo.

Contact your OPC they will have slots available...

Is there not a new Cayenne around the corner ?
I got an invite to a Cayenne preview launch from Porsche a week or so ago, so I'd hang on for the new model if you're thinking about going for one.
Personally, I prefer the Macan over the Cayenne anyway

Yes....as above, first customer cars April. There were a couple of left hookers touring UK OPCs back end of last year.
