On the plus side felt much quicker than the B8, turn in sharper. Downside was the lack of character in the engine. Extended warranty on my B8 so keeping it a little while longer
Nice looking A4 there! Oh, sorry, it's a RS4......really?

There is a Nardo grey one in my local Audi dealership. It just doesn't stand out as anything particularly different. The rear track looked awful - quite narrow and the wheels looked recessed and didn't seem to fill the wheelarches fully like the B8. And the interior, well.....
The one thing thing that I actually liked - the exhaust tips looked like they were a part of the actual exhaust, not false tips like the B8.

Surprisingly (or should it be not surprisingly), the sales manager stated they had not had any orders at all for the new RS4.

I saw an old 06 reg S4 last week in a supermarket car park manoeuvring out of a space. The V8 in it sounded superb, far better than the later V6 S4s. Likewise, the V8 in the previous RS4(s) was so appealing, whereas the new V6, albeit may perform a little better on paper, just doesn't quite have the same character and raw appeal. But this has been said previously, so I am not saying anything new.

Sorry Audi, but I will definitely be keeping my B8 for the foreseeable future, and beyond!

Each to their own but I am more interested in how the car drives than how it looks, and the new car knocks the B8 into a cocked hat on that front in my opinion. Feels like a nimbler mini version of my C7 RS6 and a clear step up from B8. I will miss the V8 soundtrack though.
I also like my cars under the radar - lots of options to get the best out of the performance and interior / convenience but de-badged, on standard wheels and in subtle colours - but again each to their own. You pays your money and makes you choice. :beerchug:

I do think looks play a big part of any sports car appeal, as well as the performance. They are the two main factors of performance car ownership in my opinion.
I see the arguement for subtly - but only to reduce the possibility of theft, or wanton damage by jealous people that don't realise that everyone has to work hard to achieve nice things and they are not handed to you on a plate (usually).
But I think an RS4 needs to make a statement on the road and stand out both visually and performance wise, although there also is an argument for a 'wolf in sheeps clothing' for the above security reasons.
As you say, each to their own - it wouldn't do for everyone to have the same taste, or car choice may become boring.

I always thought of the S cars as the sleepers ie good performance but not shouting at you. For me the RS should have the performance and the agressive looks to match. Not saying the B9 doesn't though, I still haven't seen one in the flesh.

I saw a new shape RS4 on the road yesterday and there is no way it will pass as a bogo A4 or S4. Looked amazing imho.

Saw one on sat, (£78k list...) looks great from the front, nice detail on front splitter, not keen on fussy details of air vents for the lights... Overall as above, it looks like it needs spacers as flared wheel arches overhang a bit too much, which backs up my initial impression from pictures that the back is too wide. Interior very nice but noticed seats quite firm so will be interested in the state of people’s arses after a 6h m6 journey!! Definitely an RS from most angles, there are a few (as for b8) where it’s not.

Those that have ordered have got great cars coming for sure and jealous in some ways, but there’s still a bit too much doubt for me personnaly yet and at that money that’s enough to keep hands in pockets until a B9.2 arrives I think!

Really does look quite spectacular in the flesh. Would like to see it up against the B8. Image

That is interesting as it is a non carbon with the milled wheels, probably a dealers car.

Thus far I have only seen one B9, it was Misano with chrome bits and in appearance it was more obviously an RS car than the B8. It may have had something to do with the combination, but I think it's more shouty than the B8 and if I was going for one I would try my best to tone it down, but that's my preference. Early reports are encouraging, so once cars start arriving let's hope for some nice objective reporting!

I saw a grey one in London centre on Monday. Was being driven by a guy that looked about 80. Looked nice though and certainly looked wide in the traffic

I thought the trim around the tail pipes was all carbon, but looking again on the configurator it's not so it probably is a carbon car.
