That Nardo doesn’t look right with Ali trim and bright alloys.

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
If you’ve read the rest of this thread you’ll see I’ve had a B8 RS4. Loved it and have been waiting for the B9.Surrey Sam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 9:52 pmHelps understand your view point when offering opinions on the new RS4.
Have owned Range Rovers for a number of years but not my daily and I’m sure you’d agree, not a comparative car........
My B8 same spec as yours. Didn’t have storage pack though. MY15.

Agreed and you are what 10 months away from a B8 now? I did only 8 weeks and it's amazing how much the senses adjust to something more mundane. So not really surprised you love it after Mini' s and Range Rovers.

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
Well I did drive my old one yesterday ( as a friend now owns it ) as I wanted to have a back to back comparison. Its a superior car IMO ( B9 ) . My friend thought so too and he was sitting in the back and didn’t drive it. His car stable is pretty impressive and I respect his judgement.Surrey Sam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 10:05 pmAgreed and you are what 10 months away from a B8 now? Have you driven it yet?
Looking forward to hearing other people’s experiences and views about it.

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
Not yet, waiting for my local dealer to get one. Had a pax ride in the B9 RS5 a while ago and done over 5k in the B9 across 2 different vehicles.
Personally I disagree with your view on the display and the virtual cockpit. Sure for a 20 min test drive its a fun and cool thing to have. Do a 6 hour night time drive and it's far too bright and distracting.
The more minimal MMI is less intuative and forces you too take your eye off the road more. I also found that the door mirrors created greater wind noise.
Sure there will be improvements, but is it worth x2 B8's?

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
I did have a B9 ( standard ) for a day when my B8 was in for a service but granted, didn't have a 6 hour night drive.
Where were you going? South of France or somewhere?
I'll have to disagree though. New one is a much nicer place to be.
With the HUD you're eye is definitely more focussed on the road. Probably why they have it in fighter planes.....
Didn't notice wind noise re the mirrors. Found it quieter overall than the B8 when cruising.
Yes you could buy two old B8's for the money but surely that's missing the point?
Like I said I've not decided yet.
Drive one, even for 20 minutes and then see what you think.

I photograph low flying fast military jets. So last September, I received late intel that American F/A-18's were flying sorties from the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush around the Scottish Highlands. As I live in the South Downs, this meant a 9+ hour drive there, a 12 hour day yomping around the Glens and an 11 hour drive home.
click images to enlarge: Plenty of time to get acquainted with the B9 and after that jaunt. I was more than happy to put my fist through the virtual cockpit and MMI display!!! The HUD, I would have been happy to test out. As that may have actually been some use, rather than being just a gimmick. All those extra vent slats across the dash, they end up being dust magnets and look horrible. Along with the cheap plastics around the door A-pillar areas.
Certainly would need more than just 20mins to decide if it was worth the extra £40k on top of my B8. Engine sound doesn't help - I wouldn't say it's chavvy, but it's trying too hard to be good, which is why they alter the sound within the cabin.

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
I popped into my local dealer this weekend aswell, and they had a Nardo Grey one in. Wasn't that impressed with the colour. I think looks good on the smaller RS3's, but think a bit too much "primer" for me on the larger RS4 Avant. Would of loved a Nogaro blue, but too much money to spend on paint.
Just to echo what another member has said, regarding the wheels. The Black 20" alloys actually look a lot better in person and suits the car well with Black styling pack. Odd that dealers are getting the alcantara packs in the UK as show cars, considering you cant spec them here. But I do like the feel of the material on the steering wheel, but i would prob's mess them up after a while.
Car does certainly have a lot of presence close up and much meaner irl.

Re: Who's been to see it in the flesh?
Great pictures Sam!
You’ve certainly had experience in a B9. I never spent that long in my B8 in one hit. I think 3 hours max.
20 min is not enough of a test drive but it is a fair taste. I will be wanting another go before deciding.
I didn’t think it had the sound altered in the cabin; salesman never mentioned it and I didn’t notice.
I think though that anyone wanting the latest model will get one regardless.
It is a hell of a lot of money which is why I haven’t ordered yet. The B8 felt right ( for me ) price wise.
This is nearly 20k more for the same spec I had on the B8 and like I said, I’m undecided whether it’s worth it.

The price will be 10% lower with discounts and options packs by the summer.
Priced one up today via my work arval scheme and it was 9% off the Audi configurator price.
