I’m in

Post by KiwiRS4driver » Sun Dec 17, 2017 1:58 am

I have taken the plunge and ordered the new RS4, for delivery here in New Zealand in March next year - first batch we’ll see on these far flung shores. NZ model is very highly spec’d so only extras I’ve felt the need to go for are the 20 inch machined alloys, and piano black interior detailing. B&O sound, DSC, sports exhaust and all driver and parking aids are all standard. Oh, and it’s black. Seriously considered the dark blue, but too much risk without seeing one in the flesh in that colour.

Happily the recent press day in Spain seems to have generated mostly pretty good reviews. I’m looking forward to the extra low-down power this one will have versus my B8 V8. I will dearly miss that high revving V8 and the glorious sound it makes, but won’t miss the sluggishness it has for everyday driving at lower rpm.

Good luck with the pending delivery. Nice spec. Pan roof would be the only other option I would add - unless its standard in NZ of course?

No the panoramic roof is also an extra here, and quite a pricey one. Happy to do without, along with the carbon fibre detailing and the ceramic brakes. I think everything else is ticked though.

Hang on a minute, you’re not allowed to order one until I’ve had one, those have been the rules for the past 13years, and don’t go thinking otherwise!

What spec have you gone for? And more importantly, the level of discount achieved?

I've had the panoramic roof on both my B8's, and thinking about it now, I'm not sure I've opened it once this year.
It's certainly a nice feature to have, but in reality, it's just a posh sunroof, and adds quite a bit of high up weight to the car, and another thing that needs to be included for Lubrication in your services, which isn't cheap
Subsequently, I won't get ordering it on my B9

Oops first time for everything ;-)
Spec is as follows:
Nardo
Black styling pack
Comfort and sound
Sports exhaust
Parking assist advanced
20" 5 twin spoke edge design
Matrix headlights
Privacy glass
Red calipers

Discounts seem a bit harder to come by after the press event I think you could get a better deal on a carbon edition.

I’m out...ordered a Macan Turbo Performance today.

Was close to a 911, but got overruled on that front...had to scratch the Porsche itch, so liked this and decided it was a good place to go for a few years...looking forward to seeing thw real world photos of the RS4!

You’ll enjoy it, very nice place to be. Not a 911 of course.

Only potential fly in ointment is that a new car is due next year.

Congratulations. I was so close to one of those as well. Test drove a turbo last week dealer offered a discount on a stock turbo performance but would have needed to be in it by this Friday to do the deal. With all the options it was getting a bit rich for me. Lovely interior enjoy.

That is interesting as the dealer I was with last week told me it would be at least two years before a facelift.

It had a facelift, albeit minor in 2016.

By two years I suspect they mean early 2019 delivery. I’m expecting it to be revealed next year. Wife’s is due replacement next year, were not going to get into a current gen car with a new one looming.

The benefit to pricing, unlike Audi, is that value is retained as there’s no dishing out of 15-20% discounts. You’re lucky to get anything on a factory order. Stock cars are a different matter.
