Bad news for early adopters then!

Twas ever thus and not confined to Audi, I guess it's the price some are willing to pay and so long as they know what they're in for then fair enough.

I paid the price with the B8, discounts came quite quickly after

I think the difference between the Rs5 and 4 is that the 5's are selling really very badly indeed, whereas the Rs4's seem to be quite popular at the moment
Discounts will come, but I don't think there'll be any substantial ones akin to the those on the Rs5, and they'll possibly wait to see how they go in the market for the remainder of this year, before they start offering out anything of any value generally on the Rs4.
I was offered a significantly larger discount on an Rs5 from a dealer I don't even deal with than the offer being touted above, and I think this shows just how badly the sales are going on that model.
As customer deliveries are not actually started (or are only just starting) on the Rs4 yet, there's no real numbers available
However, my contact in Audi uk told me the sales of the Rs4 are currently looking better than they expected and they're trying to get reallocation of Rs5 production to the Rs4 to deal with the demand - How true that is, I've no idea

If you remember back to the B8 launch, it was met with a pretty lukewarm media reception, and the sales were poor from the off, which I why such good discounts were available from the moment they hit showrooms

I wish they would just price the car properly in the first place. I have put my order on hold and told my dealer I am not proceeding until offers on RS4 clear. Fortunately I don't want my car til September so order had not been processed yet. To be honest, I feel for the dealer. Not their fault.

I found out today that last Friday Audi UK communicated to dealers about new 'deposit contribution' offers specifically on the S3, S4, RS3, RS4, RS5 and SQ7.

The specific RS4 figures have not been given to dealers yet, but the RS5 now has over £11k of 'discount available, made up of the following:
AUK deposit contribution: £2500
Centre deposit contribution: £8800
I can guess who the AUK contribution comes from but who is making the "centre deposit contribution"? Image

The centre, I.e. the dealer. It’s off their margin.

So Audi are telling the dealer to cut the price by £8,800 effectively?

I would have thought the Dealer Contribution will be up to the dealer to decide and nothing to do with Audi?

I bought a 3 month old RS5 just before Christmas, the original owner bought in September and on the invoice it showed a £2k discount from Crewe Audi so it is possible!

My car was £76k list and got a cracking deal on it with less than 2k miles ;-)
And why wouldn't there be a discount? As there are laws against price fixing, any dealer can sell at whatever price and discount that dealers thinks fit.
(disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer so I might be wrong)

Also, did you find out why the original owner sold so early?

It is a bit of a piss take. Ditto there being no sports pack to start with! £2k for 20" alloys alone? £2k for DRC? £1.2k for the sport exhaust with one less box than the standard exhaust?

So thats a potential 11k saving by waiting for the finance contribution, and somewhere in the region of £2.2-2.7k saved by waiting for the sport pack (which would cost around £2.5-3k?)

A sh!t way to treat your loyal returning customers. And I bet the B8 px prices are embarrassing too! Audi are hardly stocking any B8s approved used now with the B9 arriving, so I bet their px bids are absolutely hideous

No, that’s for the dealer to decide. And all of it will be contingent on taking finance.

No, the dealer can discount up to 8800 if they want to but doesn't have to. They will decide how much they actually offer you.

I'm afraid early adopters in every industry get the raw deal. They pay more than anyone, get the worse deals and normally ha e to put up with any bugs. But that the way it's always been and the early adopters know the price will drop soon after they buy which affects their second hand value and better packs will be offered, but that's the price for getting in an early car.

I have looked into this more. I think these figures (£8800 and £2500) are only applicable to people using Audi PCP.
I don't think there are any restrictions on what a dealer can offer you on a cash sale.

I wouldn't worry about taking out financing as the law says you can cancel a PCP deal within 14 days of it being activated, with no penalties or charges and no affect on your credit score. You just have to pay it off obviously and the deposit contributions stay. :rocker:

The lack of sports pack is one of the killers on pricing

This was available from the off with the B8 and in the scheme of things was good value for money even though it meant you got the dynamic steering

It did seem odd they've not offered that, especially with how popular it was on the B8
