B9 RS4 'Carbon Edition' - coming soon

Post by kmpowell » Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:17 pm

I had lunch today with my contact from AUK. He told me that a 'Carbon Edition' RS4 will be announced shortly to go alongside the normal RS4. There will also be a Carbon Edition RS5 going live this weekend.

Above the standard equipment of the normal RS4, the 'Carbon Edition' will have included as standard:
The 20" lightweight wheels currently available in Germany as an option on the standard car, Sports exhaust, Carbon Black Styling Pack and mirrors, Carbon Inlays, Black Roof Rails, Matrix Headlights, Extended interior lighting, Privacy Glass, and Red Brake Calipers

Price will be £71,625 OTR, then you can add the other usual options available on top if you want.

Audi have just updated the AUK website with the pricelist and basic spec details to reflect, and they have also added the Carbon Edition to the internal configurator.

Just played on the dealer configurator. All metallic, pearl and solid paint options are also included in the price. Exclusive is still £2400 though.

Hardly a carbon edition is it? More like a carbon pack, and a basic one at that. When I read this I thought it was going to be a lightweight special i.e. carbon wings, roof, bonnet etc...

Forgive me spelling it out.... The GFV will make all the difference, surely?

If you add 10k of options to the standard car, the GFV will barely go up. Be interesting to see what they do - could mean the monthlies will be less on a Carbon Edition with a couple of extra options (say DRC) than a regular car with 10k options, even though the Carbon would have a higher list price

Forgive the example, a mate bought a Skoda Superb Estate 280 (the S3 engine and drivetrain and 4wd) and found that the Laurin and Klement model was cheaper per month than the next trim down plus the one or two options he wanted added. He particularly wanted rear side air bags, collecting the car shortly before his first born arrived! That car is stealthy as hell!

To the best of my knowledge, Audi only look at base specs for GFV, so the options added would equate to jack-<beep> sadly
It's all torque talk.

That was in the old world. Audi changed that when they introduced the new Q7 and new TT. Some options now count towards GFV, not much, but things like Pan Roof and bigger wheels do. For example when I was looking at Q7's, putting the 21" wheels on made no difference to the monthly payment because the GFV was higher, one assumes because Q7's on 21's command more desirability than on the standard 20's.

This isn't across all models though, only models on new platforms.

Oh. A mate had it thrown at him on a new RS3 by three different dealers..... Audi logic is unique huh.

I hope you can swap the aluminium for black on the carbon edition if going that route does help the numbers

Do you mean the inlays or the exterior trim?

The exterior. I would want a black grill and window trim
