Am I being stupid, but isn't standard set up a one size fit all damper wise? Switching to comfort in cars without DRC just adjusts the throttle and gearbox? Are you saying you can adjust damper setting too in the 5?
I thought this too. Have they introduced variable damper settings on non DRC cars now?
You’d have to check with an Audi tech but my car definitely feels harder and bouncier when in dynamic mode!

I have thought on a few occasions my car has DRC but the invoice says otherwise! Lol
Placebo effect ;)
There is a huge difference on DRC cars with variable damping. Your button just does box and throttle according to my dealer.

Not placebo mate as I didn’t want it in the first place!

Had it on B7 RS4, 2015 RS5, 2015 RS6 all with knocking, I’m glad to be rid of it!

There's a member on here who had their standard suspension (non DRC) B8 RS4 into the dealership trying to sort out a suspension knock. So going for a non DRC setup wont necessarily escape you from that happening again.

Personally I think it's down to use. Cars that hit pots holes, speed bumps regularly/too hard will be prone to pushing fluid past the seals and therein a knocking sound develops. Audi have improved the design over the generations, as it's less prevalent now compared to C5 and B7 RS models.

touch wood i have had no issues with my B8 i but i was on the 3rd gen on my B7
i may come down to mechanical sympathy slowing right down for speed bumps or trying as much as you can to avoid the pot hole
i know this is not always possibl
i have seen how some drive there cars with no regard for the mechanicals ( present company excluded of course)
i will be specking the dynamic suspension when i get around to order as Audi Must be improving the system thats been on there RS models since 2002

i look forward to you guys giving a report after a few k on the clock

It was a polite way of saying you are imagining the difference in ride if you don’t have DRC. Sounds like win win for you - all the apparent benefit of adjustable damping and no risk of knocking. 👍

The non DRC car doesn't have the option for Comfort or Dynamic Suspension settings on the dash in the individual, no ?

Yes you are right.

I’m happy with ride quality of non DRC, never used it in the other cars it was always left on comfort with others on dynamic.

Same set up in the RS5 :-)

Quite possibly 😂😂
Although my Audi uk contact told me orders have been stronger than expected after the positive media launch. Whether that’s true or not, who knows

Probably cut the production run of RS5's and changed to RS4's.

Yeah, I think the RS5’s haven’t been selling well at all from what I hear and the offers available

I understand the car market is down in the past 12 months so based on the pricing, I think both cars have got to be a tough sell into a tough market.
