Ohlins Road & Track on my 2020 RS4
Re: Ohlins Road & Track on my 2020 RS4
I've tried locating an Ohlins dealer in the UK, but all that I've tried appear to be offering motorcycle solutions. Which one's did you guys use?

Yes I am currently using their recommended springs - Front 120N / Rear 140N.Avantgarde wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 10:51 amDid you run their recommended 120N front and 140N rear springs?
Car is on 9 clicks in front, and rear. Ride is much much better especially on uneven roads.

My car is a non DRC system, and sits quite low from the factory in standard form.
The kit is purchased in Thailand, as I am located there.

120N/140N is their recommended spring rates.simundo777 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 11:47 amVery interested in this kit, any more feedback?
I'd want to retain as much as comfort as possible (even improve it if thats possible).
Are the 100/120 more comfortable than their recommended rates?
It will improve the damping especially in uneven roads. In stock setup, the car will feel like its jumping all the time as if the car has some lowering springs. I see my daughter jigglying in the baby seat like a basketball while cruising @ 60km/ph.
By the way, my car is a NON DRC.
After I changed this, the jiggling is definitely removed.
As for handling, it is an improvement, over stock setup. Car is much more stable during cornering / change of direction. Plus you can adjust the firm / softness however you want!
I highly recommend this if you are looking for having a more comfortable ride, than stock shocks / springs.

I don’t get the messing about.
DRC does it all 100 times better.

And DRC is unreliable. Got fed up of constant problems on my B8 so wanted a non DRC car when looking for B9

Re: Ohlins Road & Track on my 2020 RS4
I think it was DRC that took all the fun out of driving an RS4 for me - achieving handling perfection (which is what DRC delivered) detracted from the overall driving experience, it never felt even remotely close to being on the 'edge' of something terminal and for me that's what an RS should be like. I realise that's a bit perverse!

To be fair, there were more without problems than with.
Forums always highlight the issues.
Personally I only want a car that has the options that it’s been designed with.
Appreciate that they need to drop spec to sell cars. They’re in business after all.

As a B8 owner, is it logical to assume less B9’s have DRC as standard? Seems most have standard suspension and DRC is a hard to find option on the early models?

Re: Ohlins Road & Track on my 2020 RS4
Hi, I own a 2021 RS4 with standard suspension on 20" wheels and I am fed up with my car jumping over road imperfections. I am considering the Ohlins Road & Track suspension and I wonder about the right spring rate. Seems Ohlins is recommending 120 N/mm front and 140N/mm rear - while you opted for 100/120.
My questions are - how did you come up choosing a different spring rate than recommended? How did you managed to order the different spring rate springs?
Would you say 100/120 is optimal or do you feel 120/140 would be fine too?
I am looking to make the ride more comfortable while retaining the original car height.

Re: Ohlins Road & Track on my 2020 RS4
I started out with 100/120 then went on to 80/100 (with high preload), then up to recommended 120/140. 120/140 is the best for the Ohlins in my opinion because the way Ohlins designed the front shock, there is very little travel of the piston before the bump stops come into play. They followed the original Audi bump stop position and this is the reason why the RS suspension is so bumpy. There’s just not enough travel. So the key to running Ohlins is keep close to the original ride height and use their recommended spring rate which seems higher than normal but is essential.
I moved on to H&R coilovers but found that these were insanely jiggly and uncontrolled, so I quickly got off them.
I am currently on the KW HAS kit and this is the best compromise currently. More comfortable than stock, still has a firm damping feel, and it allows more lowering than Ohlins. Upside is that it is the cheapest of all the three setups I tried, and arguably the best all rounder.
I have KW V4 on order and will report back with my findings.
