Is it not the case the first owner needed to take this out and then it needed to be continued each year, with any other owners for you to be able to take it up?

I think you can take out Audi extended warranty at any time, so long as it has full Audi service history. You certainly pay more first year if it is out of warranty.

I will very likely only buy Audi approved used, so you get at least 1 year extended warranty that way, then I would have the option to renew.

Do you mind sharing how much the VWFS extended warranty is (and what mileage and excess that is with please)?

Prospective buyer here and keeping the warranty going is something I would like to factor.

2018 reg, bought at around 33k miles, £759.93 for the first year, then £390.34, then £423.00.

Well, did a short drive the other day to run an errand and before I switched off back home noticed a new sound at idle. Popped the bonnet with the engine still running, and it sounds a lot like a fairly loud rattle from the top of the engine. It's going into 4 Rings on Monday anyway for service, so will have them diagnose. Fingers crossed.
