Top side engine noise

Hi Folk,
My 2019 rs4 has a metalic noise at top left hand side of engine when looking at it from the front, mostly when cold but have still noticed it after 20 mins or more.
Have reported it to local dealer who asked me to record it, dropping of on the 18th so they can check it out.
Has anyone had or heard of something similar

Hi,
I have tried to download a photo of devise on top of engine, when top cover removed it is on the left hand side. 46mm stainless nut, think it is a fuel solenoid?
Any thoughts.

It sounds like you are talking about the high pressure fuel pump which is run off one of the lobes on the left hand exhaust cam shaft, if memory serves me correctly.
Hopefully it is only on it's way out and changing it or the tappet that drives it will cure the problem.

What year is your RS, if its a pre 2019 it could be the start of a rocker arm failure.

Left car with Dealer (Swanways) Audi Carlisle over night for cold start, they said its normal, did not make any reference to this check on paperwork other than they tightened an exhaust bracket.

The part has a stainless steel Nut approx 46mm on top of it, I think I agree with you regarding description. When I use a screwdriver & theterscope on it when engine running it is obvious the rattle/knocking is from the unit in question
My Car is 2019 sport edition bought new September 19, with extended warranty 5yr runs till September 24.
Not sure on my next approach, think I should get a None franchise garage to give the car checkover try some one familiar with Audi rs in Carlisle.
Any thoughts
