Drum Brakes

Post by bex230 » Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:17 am

Hi All

Wondering if you could help - I'm confused by the term 'lightweight drum brakes' as an option on the RS4's. I have this vision of the tiny old drums that used to be on my Citroen AX back in the day!
If anyone could enlighten me into the difference in the brake options I would be really grateful.
Thanks

Drum brakes seem to be making a comeback...I see they are on the rear of the new Q4.

Drums replacing the discs, or just for the handbrake?

This option confuses me too. My car has the option "Lightweight drum brakes, rear" and the car obviously has fairly large discs on all 4 wheels (with bright red calipers) :?:

ETKA does not list any drum brakes on the car nor any 'shoes' to fit them so its probably a load of useless marketing

It lists it in the app under optional extras. It's clearly a mistake 🤣

Luckily, I've got disc back brakes...

No idea why I'm seeing loads of "nulls" on the screen, it was fine last time I looked...
