Hi,
can you describe it better?
I was just to open a new 3D because I’m actually in the alps, 4K km, and I’ve started to heard some noise from from the rear axle when pushing hard in small corners and while braking/releasing. Not yet understand if it’s the optional sport differential natural noise, an issue, or something related to tyres. Anyone noticed it?

Hi quattro,
I returned from Morzine last week, great driving roads.
I have the optional DRC suspension. When I first got the car in March the rear suspension started squeaking and drove me nuts. The dealers were all on lockdown so I had a look at it myself. I noticed that the yellow rubber dampers had both dropped out of the aluminium cast sockets attached to the body. I put some silicone grease on them and managed to get them both back into position , problem solved! No noise now and they haven’t dropped out since.

Tyre feathering

Post by quattro » Thu Aug 20, 2020 12:35 pm

It doesn’t sound as the damper, but will check.
It’s much more a mechanical continued noise/whistle. For a moment I tought it was a form of rubbing even if I have no spacers Installed. The car is working perfectly, I’m having great drives, but I don’t know if the noise is part of the sport differential (Subaru once has this typical noise) or a damaged bearing somewhere.

Check the tyre pressures, I read something about LSD noise when the tyre pressures were not matched each side? What tyres are fitted to your car? Mine has Continental’s

I found that the RS4 is especially susceptible to chassis alignment issues - those enormous wheels and tyres exert tremendous loads on the suspension components. You should, ideally, get a 4 wheel alignment check done annually - you will likely find that it's out by quite a bit - transforms the handling, so much sharper when all the wheels are pointing in the same direction !
