I was just pondering yesterday what to do next April when my RS4 is 3 years old and the PCP is up .. I could of course opt to buy and the car will have approx 36k miles on it by then and given that it's all running beautifully and is specced just as i like it well then that might be a good strategy. BUT of course my mind turned towards the idea of a shiny new one! The Vorsprung looks like it has a great spec although no carbon inlays which i like .. I have a few questions .. anyone driven a 2020 model vs. 2018 and got a POV on performance (i believe the 2020 power delivery is slightly different (broader range) .. also there appears to be no choice of alloys although i've seen pics with 20" which you can't spec and finally the frankly appalling Audi UK website suggests that the wheel arches are 30mm wider than standard .. i'm presuming than a standard A4 but the copy sounds quite Vorprsung specific ("The exterior wheel arches are 30mm wider than the standard RS 4 giving an impressive appearance") .. Sorry for rambling but if anyone got any thoughts / clarifications i'd love to hear!

Re: RS4 Vorsprung
Won't it be quieter still given GPF / OPF? Mine was virtually silent in 2018 which used to annoy me!

Re: RS4 Vorsprung
I drove a 2018 model when they came out and was very impressed with it albeit I only had a test drive.
It was a rainy misty day and I couldn’t believe how much confidence it inspired with its grip and performance.
I thought my B8 was good but this was on a different level.
I’m no expert but this felt brilliant compared to anything I’d had previously.
Two years later I’m in a Vorsprung. I didn’t test drive this facelift model just ordered it.
As it’s a Vorsprung edition there wasn’t anything else that I wanted spec wise except for paint colour.
Ok, you don’t get the noise of a V8 but having said that I think it sounds ok personally.
But the performance is epic. The power is fluid through the rev range, unlike the V8 which performed better at higher revs, and it feels like it has loads more torque (which it does).
Stick it in comfort mode and it’s a perfect car for poodleing along in town though I generally have it in auto on the drive select.
Unfortunately because of the lock down I’ve not driven it much and have yet to have a proper play with the RS modes.
For me, it’s the best car I’ve owned. They look the dogs too!

Re: RS4 Vorsprung
Not wishing to put a damp squib on the job but a year from now the current A4 will be in the twilight period of it's model life having already been facelifted for late 2019. I'd reckon on a late 2021 announcement with deliveries starting in 2022 as Audi facelifts typically put a 3 year extension on the life of a production run with a tendency to cease production of the RS models a 12-18 months before the base vehicle is withdrawn. I'd be surprised if the RS4 was available much past January 2021?
I realise this post might seem a tad cynical but if one looks at the 'design track' Audi are pursuing, especially with interiors - think A1, A3, A8, Q3, Q7 and Q8 with the infotainment screens all built into flowing dash layouts (which I don't personally like) then the A4 approach whilst functionally excellent isn't exactly up there with the newer models.

Re: RS4 Vorsprung
I bought my B8 RS at the end of production of the A4. I think the base model had finished for factory orders before that?
I think the B9 RS will be available we’ll past 2021 and into 2022.
The next RS will probably be some hybrid type thing and I’d think that’ll be some way off time wise.
And I won’t be getting one!

Morning Massingham,
Yes thats a hard one unless you have owned / driven both cars for a long period.
I have a 2018 B9 for a week in 2018 & loved it - fully intended ordering one until they pulled the plug.
Hence waiting & picking up a 20 Carbon Black Edition.
I am happy with the sound - think its great- not as good as my previous B8's but I'm Happy.
I have not noticed any difference in Performance over the 18 Car although I have never owned one long term, the face lift is stunning & Very quick.
I choose the Carbon Black as I like the Carbon exterior Trim & Especially the Interior Carbon trim, this is the only model the Carbon is in, - Shame really as I really wanted the HUD - Head up
Display.
Its probably worth waiting until after Christmas to see what is happening the on going RS4 Production, with the current climate the way it is who knows what's going to happen.
Keeping enjoying your B9 - Stunning cars
