Indicators standard on everything now.
Indicators standard on all cars now?

On the website, this is what it says for the "RS Matrix LED headlights with LED rear lights and dynamic front and rear indicators"

Audi Matrix LED technology provides precise illumination of the road whilst reducing the risk of dazzling other road users. Using information obtained from the vehicle’s sensors, camera and MMI Navigation it identifies the appropriate lighting required. Using these sources, Matrix LED dips or fully extinguishes individual lighting diodes when vehicles are detected ahead. Matrix LED calculates the appropriate lighting required and automatically dips or turns off individual lighting diodes, creating corridors of lights either side of the vehicle or the object in front of it. Includes dynamic front and rear indicators which sweep from inside to out with RS-specific darkened trims.

It's the last sentence that puzzles me. Read somewhere you only get front and read dynamic indicators with matrix headlights.
Sweeping rear indicators are standard on the rear. You only get sweeping front indicators if you opt for Matrix headlights. That is on all the new Audi range. My 2017 A3 has sweeping rears and normal flashing fronts. Same as the Q7 I had on loan last week and the S4 I’ve tested in the past.
Current ride’s
Q7 Floret Silver Black Edition On 22’s (2018)
Renault Clio 172 Cup. (Babe the track pig)

Previous rides

2013: Q7 3.0 tdi s/line plus ibis white (13reg)
2012: S5 cabriolet glacier white (62 reg)
2011: RS4 saloon B7. Avus (57 reg)

Good, I'm not going mad then. So, is there a mod out there to turn standard front indicators into sweeping front indicators? Sorry for the hijack.

Nobody seems to be going matrix headlights.

They are very good
Matrix on the C7 are amazing. Living in the sticks, I hate driving any car without them now; its like driving with headlights off.

The standard LED headlights have the same strength/output as the Matrix LED headlights, the Matrix simply has 'intelligent' software that allows the lens' to be switched on/off automatically in patterns..

Personally I wouldn't waste the money on Matrix. It's just more deceiving Audi marketing to think you're getting something major over standard, a bit like the "heated front and outer rear seats" option, which in fact only adds the rears to the standard heated front seats.

The headlights on my B8 are really good (albeit, they currently have a fault showing on the dash that's getting sorted next week)
On the flip side, the lights on my 2016 VW T6 van are bloody awful, and you'd almost imagine you were driving around at night with just the side lights on - They're almost as bad as the near candle light my TVR used to produce at night

No idea, but I'll find out next week when it goes in to be fixed.
Dash just says 'Adaptive light failure' or something along the lines of that, although they appear to be working just fine

They may have the same strength but they are keeping more of that full strength on for longer in places that cars with just the on/off dip can’t ie lighting up the LHS of the road on full beam permanently.

I have seen my get confused when following a car with its taillights out on one side. It can’t see anything so just blinds that side of the road!!

I didn't get offered it, but wouldn't take it anyway.
It's not like the Audi Factory is like visiting Maranello :)

It's not about the light output (which is very good anyway), it's about the fact I can drive around with the equivalent of full beams on all the time without blinding anyone.

If only they didn’t blind everyone. Too slow on the twisty country roads around me. Can’t - and therefore don’t - trust them. Certainly would not pay extra giving how little I use them.
