What I find mad about using an auto gearbox it that Porsche is using exactly the same engine in the Panamera 4s and they have developed a Dual-clutch. Why??
Surely they could of saved costs and just developed one gearbox for both applications.
Obviously it seems unlikely but could they possibly be thinking Audi would steal customers from Porsche :nogarors4:

I would prefer the RS to be DSG (and Audi to stop calling it stronic)
Current : 2018 F5 RS5 (Let's Fire Up the Quattro)

Simple, cost. Not sure whether it's the same unit across the family. If it is then it's well over specified anyway, and that won't have helped the cost.

It's a shame, as it is a superb unit. Now 8 eight speed in the Panamera.

Yep cost. They are working a DCT with graziano and i reckon that will land in the R5. I hoped it would be in the RS4 and RS5.

I don't think it has solely to do with cost, more so the Porsche client base would see the product / brand being devalued from sharing with a lower grade brand. Also with performance so close these days yet costs so different (look at an RS7 vs a Panamera Tub S for instance) if parts were heavily shared across group with a 50% price differential the Porsche brand gets devalued. Only my opinion of course.
It's all torque talk.

The Porsche unit would cost more than the slush box. Simplez.

Don't think the wheels help. Get some concave wheels on and it'll transform the car.

So what is the feeling, Audi will let the RS5 have its moment then unveil the RS4 at Frankfurt in September or could they show it as early as April at the New York show??

The more I look at it the worse it gets. It's like it was a 4 door but they welded the rears shut and repainted it. You could be forgiven for thinking they're showing the new RS3 sedan if you did notice it was a 2 door. It makes the M4 look like a supermodel.

What happened to the centre console? Did they empty the switchgear out and fix it where it landed? The volume control on the right looks as though it's an afterthought.

Im used to touching my passengers leg when I select first gear in my 205 - looks like you'll be doing the same to adjust the volume!
