Stopping unwanted links
How can I stop the unwanted advertising links in my posts?
I'm happy to advertise firms that have done good service for ME, but why the hell should my posts be hijacked to advertise firms I have no connection with?
This is IMHO one of the WORST FEATURES EVER on ANY forum.

This is another one for the paid membership list. i.e. the ability to remove advertising.
Would be interested in other people's feedback and this is a revenue stream for the site and pays the bills.

Re: Stopping unwanted links
I don't like the word related links - makes it more difficult to read the posts (and I already struggle with literacy
). If its about paying the bills I would prefer to see banners etc.

Re: Stopping unwanted links
Banner advertising is not really an option as when they are at the top of the page, they increase the time to load a page and rarely get clicked. We could have section sponsorship, but that means loading another mod which makes upgrades tricky.
We really think the word sponsorship can work, so welcome feedback on ideas to make it less intrusive.
If you have any new ideas on how to have content based sponsorship, then let us know.
It sounds like it's time to implement the no-ads premium membership and with it, a new classifieds section.

Word sponsorship is irritating as it interrupts the readability of posts, so it might make revenue but it also might loose members.PhilT wrote:We really think the word sponsorship can work, so welcome feedback on ideas to make it less intrusive.
I'd rather have top of the page and/or bottom of the page adverts, increasing load times really isn't an issue for 99.99999999% of people with ever faster broadband connections.
What is it with car related websites feeling to need to create paid-for premium membership - just to stop the annoying dross that shouldn't be there in the first place?PhilT wrote:It sounds like it's time to implement the no-ads premium membership and with it, a new classifieds section.
