Pasting a Jpeg image into a post

Post by TurkS4 » Tue Mar 25, 2003 11:46 am

Hi Guys,

Can someone tell me how I can paste a jpeg image into a post for all to see. I have been playing with me new Digi camera and would like to show you guys what my S4 interior looks like.

Cheers

You have 2 choices

Option 1
Upload your picture to the gallery, you can create your own gallery and post images in there.
If you view an image in the gallery then right click on it, you can copy the file properties (AKA url)

When you write your post you can then insert an image (Instant UBB Code, below and to the left of the text box) and paste the url you had copied

Option 2
When you make your new post select preview and/or attach file listed below, then browse to select and insert a file

This will upload the file, to display it in the post you need to click the attachment link, copy the url then edit your post and insert an image pasting the copied url into the image location box

Hope this helps

Cheers

There are three options....

1. The prefered way of posting a picture is to attach it to a post. To do this you must make the image below 55Kb. Create a post and select 'preview/attach file' -> attach the file and complete the post. Then view the post and view the attached picture -> copy the location (images/rsul/....) and then edit your post and paste the location into the 'Image Instant UBB Code'
Should look like this [image] images/rsul/.... [/image] (No spaces)

2. Create your own Gallery and link to the pictures in the Gallery. Please do not insert huge pictures into the posts as it is dial-up unfriendly. If the pictures are huge, then you can link to them in a post by using the 'URL Instant UBB Code' and you will get something like this http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TurkS4/.... " target="_blank"> http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TurkS4/.... </a> (Again no spaces)

3. When all else fails, ask a Moderator or Admin to help.

Thanks Bushy...It is now telling me that the file cannot be larger than 50000 bites.

How do I reduce the size of the file to below 50000. The file I am downloading is 200kb.

Cheers

I personally use a fine little utility from microsoft that allows you to right click on an image file then select resize, generally use 600 x 800 and it fits gret into posts

available here

Nope, but have major respect for MS Powertoys. These used to be created by the MS developers and posted as utils.

I use the 'Command Prompt' powertoy on all my systems .

Many thanks PhilT....went with the option of creating my own gallery following your instructions and have linked the URL into my posting.

Unfortunately, I do not have Windows XP, only Windows 98 and cannot see any powertoys for this operating system!!

Thanks anyway
