Voted yes! There's a place for humour of the type that can get censored or complained about, so why not put it in a place where it becomes obvious as to it's content, therefore removing the possibility of complaints by it's placement in a category where it's chosen to be read by those who won't be upset by it's adult nature.

I voted yes (big surprise! )

Either that, or just let the OT section be exactly that; an OT section. No-one is forced to go there if they simply want to use the site for technical info, warranty stuff etc etc are they ??? .... I mean no-one forces their hand to move the cursor over the OT link do they??? Some people just enjoy pissing themselves off, getting themselves wound up and enraged about stuff to make themselves feel lofty and superior. Jerks.

It's all crazy stuff IMO.

Just to see what sort of weird sh*t Jules can come up with!!

No, seriously, as discussed, we're mostly grown men who like to have 'adult' humour

The problem we've have is that a user 'may' wish to see threads about the best broadband available (nice thread btw  ) but not want to 'accidently' come across threads discussing "who or what has been up someones elses you-know-what".

Whether we like it or not I think we have to cater for the majority on here, this is why I suggested the poll. Ultimately I am saying that 'I' am listening to what you guys want, and I think you should have the chance to get it supported (or not) by our other users. Can't say fairer than that mate

Cheers,

Personally I can read the subject and take a pot shot as to whether I want to read a topic or not, hence I fail to see why a separate pigeon hole is required. But hey ho, if people can't cope with the odd "ODD" topic in Off Topic then I guess we need a blue room. Does that mean we could post HC stuff too then??? ;-)

I voted no.

Only as I think there needs to be some balance. The forum is already quite liberal so far as content and language.

I don't venture into the off tpic section often. I saw Julian's apology post and thought it alone was a joke (a funny one). I now take it there really was a before thread.

While I am not going to be shocked at reading/seeing the type of contwent perhaps it is you want allowed in Off Topic, I am not sure I want to see it on here? Why need it be? I think my main concern is that RS246 remains a site I can safely access from work. As soon as the content crosses certain boundaries, it won't be, regardless of whether I choose to read the off topic section or not.

I think the first vote should be....should rs246.com allow adult humour to be posted. I don't believe that a car site needs a portion of it's site partioned off to allow people to publish material of an adult nature. There are lot's of sites on the internet which allow this and I fail to see why rs246.com needs too.

And this is not about being prudish or morally outraged. If there is no mechanism to control the age of the people view the material that is to be published (I'm assuming the material will degenerate further once a seperate section has been created) then rs246.com is responsible, possible under law but certainly morally, for the material published. My 9 year old son reads this site on occasions and if this proposed section is implemented without age controls he would be in a position to read it. You should not assume that it is only adult men that read this site and you should also not assume that all adult men find the humour your talking about funny or appropriate.

I really don't understand why we need this type of humour on a car interest site.

You make a good point Jeff, one that needs to be carefully considered....
