PMs?

Dunno whats going on but I received a PM a number of days ago but I didnt get an email notification and it didnt show in my PMs.... I only got it when I noticed the notice in the "online" section under the "get Firefox" section and above the "Google Links" section on the banner on the left.

But when I clicked on private messages it wasnt showing a new message. Only when I clicked on the actually notice:

"
part did I get the message and it looked totally different to usual....
Do we in fact have 2 PM systems that we dont know about or is this a freak occurance?

The site has 2 message systems, one on the left above google links, and one at the top.

The one on the left will be removed in the next version of the website. It does not give notifications of new messages.
