Phil
Tell me to mind me own business if you like but what does is cost, on an annual basis, to run this site.

Just minimise the google links...that's what I've done.

Currently a lot of time, phone calls, and favours.... Just making sure that we have evrything in place if these were to ever 'run out'.

Thanks for your support Dave :P . The good thing is that it only pays per click, so if you're completely not interested, then you're doing us a favour by minimising it .

I had a quick look around, and hosting alone would equate to about £3000 per annum.

Not a constructive comment Phil!

And yes, i do appreciate all the efforts that yourself and the rest of the crew put into the site.

I knew I was helping

Sorry, but I see enough google links on all the other sites I see on the internet... I think it makes the site a bit cheapo looking

Don't get me wrong mate, I understand what you're trying to do..

Ouch :o Is that based on a competitive quote. What is the criteria for hosting the site :?:

Karl
its based on what the costs of real servers cost and not including all our time and phone calls and the last 3 years of putting up most of the money to run the site.
This is a way of easing the burden, along with a core of supportive advertisers.
We have looked at a membership or even donations, it just really puts more pressure on the people who fund and run the site, to become even more professsional.
I personally would be glad for someone like yourself to take over funding the website, and see the Google ads disappear.
Yours awaiting the cheque

As a foot note, it would take a fully paid person to look after it all, adding salary, insurance and other assosiated costs just to look after the admin... then you also start delving into the relms of company ligislation and having to make tax returns... mare as most are aware........
