RE: H&R coilovers and anti-roll bars - Group purchase
Interested in prices (as you can buy H&R coilovers for 650 from ebay.de right now. You can also get the 32/21 bars for 245)
If a UK supplier can get close to those numbers (shipping isn't too bad from Germany) then I am interested.

does anyone have a car with these fitted? I'd be interested, but I'd want to know what its like before purchase if at all possible.
RE: H&R coilovers and anti-roll bars - Group purchase
I'd be keen to see some suggested pricing, as prices for these can vary quite a bit!

I think what Clive is saying that if we can go back with numbers, he can get us prices - so no commitment just yet......count me in.

That's what I'm saying Rob.
Dazzer and I have just returned from a demonstration of the H&R coilovers, thanks to DavidT.
The handling is absolutely awesome, tightens up the steering too, which is very precise

Hmm. So it's OK to pay a certain compnay 795 ex vat for the same product because theydazzer wrote:H&R Coilovers![]()

In fact DavidT mentioned something very important. It's great if you can get the kit for £650 supplied as long as you have someone who knows what they are doing to set fit them and set them up properly.
are then going to fit it 'properly' for you?. Me, I'd rather pay 650 then pay someone else to fit
it properly. When you start looking at how much parts cost in other countries you really
begin to realize that the UK 'tuning' market is, again, a captive market in which we end
up paying way more than anyone else.
Fitting is very important. The settings you use make a huge difference to the handling of the car.
AmD fitted mine a couple of years and did an alignment a few weeks ago and it improved the steering weighting and feel and made the back end feel more 'connected'. That's after 20k miles and some track use.
They only made two significant adjustments (there are dozens I think, judging by the printout) so a badly adjusted set will mean a very poor drive.
What is the list price for th H&R kit ? I thought it was £ 725 +VAT
Regardless, I'd pay top price for the assurance that it was done right.

No Jonny, that's not what Darren was suggesting.
The point he (and David) are making is that it's all very well saving money on sourcing the components, but it's a waste of time (and money) if they're then not set up right.
So if we're going to do this, then we need to find someone who knows how to set these up properly on this car.
This, as David suggests, brings us round in a full circle to the likes of "the specialists" who charge top dollar for supply & fit.

AMD's list price for the kit is £795 plus VAT. Their fitted price incl VAT is £1,240.
A group purchase on the coilovers UK sourced is likely to come in at around £765 incl VAT.
If we can bring them in from Germany for £650, all the better - it's the same product.
So it seems the question is can we find someone who knows what they're doing with these things and at what price?

Sorry, it's hard to communicate effectively through text alone. I wasn't saying that fitting wasn't important
(because it is) but slipped into a half rant when I saw how much some tuners were charging for the product.
Now, you may be happy to pay this premium (and thats fine) but I take exception to a vendor who, in
my opinion, is capitalizing on their status rather than any real technical benefit. I think if you search the
archives you will see that AMD are a bit of a 'mixed bag' for most people. In my experience they have
never done exactly what was requested, have always taken twice as long and have always charged
more than initially discussed. I have no complaints about the standard of the work that they have managed
to complete. On the other hand, I saw absolutely nothing to justify the premium which they charge over
other independent specialists who are equally as competent, if not more so (e.g. Dialynx). Hmm, this has
turned into a mild critique of AMD which it was never intended to be... Let me say:
I don't think it's mutually exclusive to get the product for a good price AND get it fitted correctly. Basically,
any place that can do 4wheel alignment should be fine. There is also no difference, in terms of principles,
to fitting a coilover kit to any car. Your local MAX Power Saxo person may be better (and cheaper) for
this.
This link has some comments on AMD's suspension setup skills btw:
