Keep it seperate and organised, I think the classified works very well.

Though with the old system, it was interesting to see what people were saying about the things for sale

Hence the reason why it is probably a good idea to keep it seperate..............very hard to resist the temptation of hitting a few keys when you see something for sale and know they are taking the

Me too, this is a discussion forum after all, the bit of banter that went with it is now missing.

The other thought I had, was to put it back to the old system, but prune the posts automatically...that way if people haven't sold their item after a certain amount of time, they have to re-post (moving the responsibility to the person who wants to sell something..)
I agree the current system is missing the 'interactiveness' of the old way...
The only thing wrong with the old one was the fact that people didn't update it so you couldn't tell what was still for sale and what was sold...
We need kindof a cross-between the systems methinks

Agreed. I used to read the threads but rarely check classifieds.

I thought the old forum based system worked perfectly well for the amount of regular users we have here on the site (who it should be working for). Not only did it give everyone who logs in a first bite at the cherry by posting an interest in the thread (all very gentlemen like it was aswell), it also stopped a lot of crap being put up for sale by the 'would be' 1 post wonders who are only out looking to sell something that is more than likely totally unrelated. This is where I think the classifieds section as it is now will be open to abuse and will soon start to fill with every conceivable item (including the kitchen sink) by people we have never heard anything from simply because no one can query or frown upon them as they would in the forums.
As for what is and what isn't still for sale, I would have said it was pretty obvious by reading the threads. If not, then how hard is it (even for someone who has never posted before) to either send that person a PM or just post in the thread 'Is this still for sale?'. Even if the seller isn't online theres a good chance someone else will know....

A prime example is my desire to SWAP the BBS for MTM's, or to pput a wanted MTM wheels post in. The post needs a little more discussion and not really anywhere to put it so I just bunged it into the RS4 section. Although the BBS would look fantastic on any 5 * 112 audi
