Just a thought here, but I was wondering about the possiblity of a thread that helped the less mechanically minded of us to understand a bit more about our cars? This would namely be for when issues or warnings crop up - for example this topic:
BEWARE ALL S4(B5) AND RS4(B5) OWNERS Posted: Nov 28, 2004 - 08:26 PM

I for one was a little lost, and a bit worried that something may not be right and having absolutely no idea what it was or if it was serious..

Perhaps the technicians amongst us could start a 'Glossary', or Lamens Terms? I think this would be a great help to the rest of us especially if we can pass on knowledge to others. More importantly if we can appear more knowledgable when we're in discussion with dealers, it might give them a little more incentive to do a better job and less of one to rip us off.

I mean, I never knew that certain wipers made you go faster...

Cheers

Bob

What would be good is to have someone who could take the information and make into an FAQ. Not sure if a technical person is best, as they may miss something they consider trivial or describe something in technical terms....

Therefore, I think that someone like you Bob ;) would be perfect to create such an FAQ, and then maybe we could get the OK from the techies for accuracy.

What do you think?

The FAQ section is here. I removed it from the menu as we were not using it....

More than happy to help out, but don't feel qualified to answer people's technical questions. I'd be happy to play a secretarial role and arrange a list if people PM'd me their queries? Is it possible to post questions in the FAQ and people to post answers? I suppose this becomes no different from a normal thread but it might keep things a bit more organised and avoid repetition?
