Site speed or lack of it

Anyone else notice the forum is incredibly slow at times?

It's been a lot worse since it disappeared for a week or two recently.

Also if there is a way of donating to the site to keep it going then there should be links in all the forum pages to make it easy.

The outage the other week was due to a payment card expiring and me having a filter on the emails

Thanks for the offer of donations. What I'd really like to do is implement a paid subscription. Not a huge amount but enough to contribute to the running of the site and hopefully help stop spam accounts too.

There should be something in PHPBB add ons to do a site subscription. If it uses something like paypal then it is fairly easy for people to set up.

It's been a while since I looked into it and at the time there wasn't really anything that was actively maintained. Happy to look at suggestions

I had a quick look and it wasn't promising. A basic paypal donate with a regular donate option might be the easiest to do. Doesn't link up seemlessly with the forum but it might be a reasonable short term option to help with running costs but won't do much about spam.
