.PNG no longer an accepted file extension?

Just tried to upload a screenshot from my iPhone but I received a message saying the expected format was JPG and PNG isn't acceptable.
Can you please tweak the accepted file formats in the PHPBB admin panel to accept PNG?

It is an accepted file type.

Strange. I'd upload a screenshot of the error message I get, but I can't...

Is you iPhone running an up to date OS? I seem to remember this problem before but I can't find it.

I'm using 10.3.1 on a 7 Plus.
I think I've worked out what the issue is. If I try and upload a standard screenshot it works but if I crop the screenshot (in the picture's settings) and try to upload the cropped screenshot, it errors. So it looks like a cropped picture in iOS isn't a regular PNG even though the extension says it is.

That seems familiar. I don't do Apple.
