RS246.com Upgrade

Post by PhilT » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:02 pm

It's really happening this time and it's a biggie!!!

Just a heads up that anytime soon we'll be moving server (Datacenter, server, etc).

The new server is in Germany (value for money) and upgrades the hardware (8 cores, 32GB RAM, twin 500GB SSD) and connection (from 100MB to 1000MB)!!!

At the same time the forum software will get upgraded (Responsive UI) and we're likely to enable https (encrypted) access to all of RS246.

We usually do a move like this every 3 to 4 years. It's a significant challenge and there will be issues/interruptions. Please use this thread to report anything that needs fixing.

Thank you for all your support.

It's a pleasure mate. We always said we would keep it running as long as the members kept it busy. There's a fine bunch of people here and it's well worth investing in :)

Keep up the good work. Take 2 paracetamol. 2 ibuprofen. A good smear of Vaseline and gently slide it in. Hopefully that will ease the pain.

Reminds me of some good old venues; Liquor in the front and poker in the rear.

Good workd Phil. Will we notice any difference when up and running in terms of looks? Not suggesting it needs changing as I'm happy with it the way it is, just wondering.

Yes Mike. There'll be changes but it'll be very similar to how it is now. Hopefully just better :)
