"Well that wasn't what was expected!!" So, as you are all probably aware, we've been down for most of today
. It all started very normally as I went to check the tuning on the database, I noticed that we had an upgrade of the operating system that was due. Usually this is fairly seamless but this one had multiple other (hidden) upgrades as a "benefit". The upgrade itself took about 5 hours and then a couple of hours to fix bits. The biggest time consuming part was the database got upgraded but failed. Fixed that but then it had to update the data stored in it (Vast amounts of data!!).Notes to self, "Never underestimate an upgrade" and "Maybe it's time to have a test server".
