A warning that we may implement a paid membership requirement to post in the classified section.

Fine by me. I don't have any problem paying for membership if is gets rid of the chancers.

What about a minimum of 20 (or more) post counts?

The BMW one I used to be on used to do this-£10

Think it is a good idea.

On a forum I'm on for PC equipment, they go for a 100 post rule before being allowed to post for sale. Eradicates the chancers

Problem is that post count = spam and even more reasons for Bam-Bam to vent.... ;)

Another forum that I've registered on has a requirement for x number of posts to attach images and then membership to post in certain sections. It's not obvious and makes the whole experience a little tiresome. I have no problem with chancers as we were all newbies once upon a time.

This way, people sell stuff and we make a bit of cash in the process too.

The car audio forum I'm a member on doesnt allow you to post links, photos, videos etc until you have 10 posts. To sell stuff in classifieds you need at least 100 posts.
Any post with just 'thanks', 'nice' etc do not count as posts (although this is not strictly adhered to) and neither does anything posted in Off Topic. It seems to work as I don't ever recall them hit with spammers (maybe the odd one), but I imagine this takes a lot of time and moderators.

30 "Useful/Helpful" posts before being allowed to sell works well on another forum I frequent.

Doesn't bother me either way, but what is the objective - to raise funds or to get rid of people filling up the classifieds with rubbish?

I ask because a fee might not achieve the latter...

Primarily the former but there is also an element of the latter.

How much cash do you need/want it to raise?
